I would have answered yes to all three questions except that for three windows we've failed to bring a goal scorer in.
If we'd signed someone like an RVN, a Torres on form, Drogba etc then we wouldn't even see these questions asked.
Call him a talisman, a leader, the final piece or whatever but any one of those players would see us viewed as one of the form teams in European football. I don't think we've got the experience to keep it going yet but that will obviously come.
If we get "that" player in then the experience we develop will be winning. Without him then we could decimate this squad for years to come.
I hear what you're saying and it's something we've all echoed for quite some time now but honestly I keep thinking to myself that if the only answer we can come up with is a truly world class striker then perhaps things aren't as rosy as we'd like to believe.
I think most teams would suggest that most of their woes would disappear if they had an in-form Torres or Van Persie - we don't really stand out in that respect. And like most teams I think we're going to have to be awfully lucky to land that type of player right now.
It's perhaps more realistic to assume we can get a good striker - potentially a young one that can be great - and build around that. But this idea that a world class striker would solve all our problems...well we had a stronger team when we did have a world class striker on our books and still fell short. Our problems were and still are greater than that.
