Clattenburg won't be charged by police

The Met have cited a lack of evidence as the reason.

I'm sure his boss will be pleased

A lack of evidence provided by the accusers in the first place then. So Chelsea should be for the fucking high jump here.

Don't forget the player who made the accusation. He should face the equivalent punishment Clattenburg would have faced had he been found guilty.

Perhaps it's possible charges of being 'frivolous' [in a legal sense] could be considered against either the player or the club, although I presume it would have had to go to court for that to be determined. Any lawyers here who can excite us with the possibilities of the player/Chelsea facing legal sanction?

Lack of evidence or witnesses does not stand in the way of the FA though , although in this case I am sure they will happily make an exception

regards

Although with David Gill now at the FA they might think different. Here's hoping.

It wasn't Chelsea that contacted the police.

It was the black lawyers association fella, who didnt see or know anything about what happened.

I really ought to pay attention to the proper football headlines more closely rather than watch the sideshow of people kicking a ball about a pitch.

If any of the other Chelsea players are willing to give evidence Clattenburg is toast.

I doubt Clattenburg will referee Chelsea again anyway. The cynic in me says it's job done for Chelsea.

Not just give evidence. Chelsea had the sense to perform their own investigation and put together all the statements and witness accounts at the time. Poor Clattenburg has no contemporaneous evidence, which in the balance of probabilities means anything he says now to defend himself carries less weight than what Chelsea committed to writing within the first few hours of the incident.

It's surely down to whom the FA deems dispensable. If Chelski lose they'll be in a terrible state after all the other scandals. If Clattenberg loses they'll just bring in another ref. Seems a no-brainer, which suits the men at the FA supremely neatly.

Oh and make no mistake, Chelsea will stick to their initial statements with more consistency than the fucking tides. Which will of course support the idea that their statements are more likely to be true than something Clattenfucked made up 10 minutes ago.

Indeed. It's now a system open to manipulation.

Racial allegations should be immediately referred to the Police by the FA, they've left themselves, less powerful clubs and the game wide open.

Just made me remember that player from Northampton was it? who burst into tears after he thought he'd heard someone racially abuse him right after the Suarez/Evra bullshit.
What people think they hear can be a little misleading.

It shows yet again how perilous it is these days for the club to rely on 'The Liverpool Way' when most other clubs are now so ruthlessly litigious. The Liverpool Way has only ever been as good as the judgement of those who seek to embody it, so it might still be great if another John Smith or Peter Robinson was around, but when the supposed guardian of the spirit is Ian Ayre you might as well stick up a sign inviting the wolves to come for their din-dins. The mancs did us over Suarez, and now even toytown clubs like Fulham immediately contact the FA to slap official complaints against us. I'm quite surprised old Dave Whelan didn't squeal to the authorities when he was compared unfavourably to John Bishop. Unless we can find people clever and tactful and crafty enough to keep the old ways going we should beef up our legal team and prepare to get in first whenever anything else occurs, because cynical efforts like Chelski's latest operation are now, alas, the norm.

Indeed. We keep hearing that footy clubs are businesses, well if there's any kind of on the pitch incident that could effect the club badly at all it should be treated in the exact same manner a top bank or stockbrokers would treat their own in an incident that reflect on them.

Close ranks, get everyone's story straight & then put out statements or take whatever affirmative action is best for the club as one, having input from an executive & preferably lawyer, either or sports or civil dependant on the circumstances.

Citeh are exceptionally good at this, & have a superb pr team that put out positive news & quosh stories like ever never seen a club here do before. For instance the mancini story with the signed contract for the Russian (or maybe another rich nation I forget) national team the end of the summer. Was killed within one afternoon & hasn't been mentioned again.

I love how people talk about the balance of probabilities as some archaic concept developed by the FA.

Quite right. Balance of probabilities is a useful concept which has been developed by the FA into what now resembles an archaic blend of urine and fecal matter.

Surely the SOBL are bringing the game into disrepute by claiming a cover up & foul play over him not getting charged?

You cannot get involved with governance only when it suits you. Throw the book at Them..
