Clattenburg In The Clear !

Meanwhile Ferguson has given his support to referee Mark Clattenburg, who on Thursday was cleared by the Football Association following allegations from Chelsea that he used "inappropriate language" to their players.
"I didn't believe it anyway," Ferguson said. "The unfortunate thing for Mark is he's had to carry that stain for the last few weeks and everyone in the game is pleased for him now, apart from Chelsea."

Good ole Sir Alex, champion of the people.

Chelsea have apologised for their handling of the affair, and the impact it has had on Clattenberg and his family.

They haven't actually apologised, they say they regret what happened - which isn't exactly an apology. Chelsea may have thought that a full apology would open the door for Clattenburg to demand compensation.

As soon as Ferguson came out in favour of Clattenburg after the alleged incident, I knew the FA would decide not to bring charges. I'm no conspiracy theorist but I am convinced that Ferguson runs the whole fucking thing.

Interesting that Clattenburg was the official in charge when the following two incidents happened at OT:

1. The "goal" by mendes which was over the line by a yard but was never given

2. The Nani goal where Gomes thought a free kick had been given for a clear hand ball by Nani then the ref let Nani just knock it past Gomes.

Two of the worst refereeing decisions in recent years, both at OT, both against Spurs. Clattenburg has neglected his roots...

I don't think it's necessarily a conspiracy, because that implies people meeting up and making conscious decisions. I don't think it would go that far, because it doesn't need to. The old cnut has got such a psychological grip on so many people within the game as a whole that they'll do what he wants without him having to say a single word.

didnt people meet up to ban suarez?

also with David Gill being the CEO of Man United and the vice chairman of the FA
some people playing roles dont need to *meet*

That last bit's the key IMO. There are plenty of ways of making sure certain things get done without any formal decision-making taking place.

I'm still amazed Gill hasnt been forced to quite one of the jobs.
In a "normal" business world, this would never happen.

When it comes to the FA though, there's previous. David Dein was in a similar position last time, holding the vice-chair position at Arsenal and sitting on the executive board at the FA. Mourinho kicked up a fuss about this, claiming Arsenal got preferential treatment for their league game fixtures.

I'm sure Benitez will pick up on this topic in due course if Ferguson continues to push him. 😀

from the beeb:
Chelsea's John Mikel Obi has been given a three-match ban and fined £60,000 by the Football Association for threatening referee Mark Clattenburg.
Nigerian midfielder Mikel admitted an FA charge following an incident in the match official's changing room at the end of Chelsea's game against Manchester United on 28 October.
In a personal hearing on Thursday the FA's Independent Regulatory Commission accepted that the player had genuinely believed the referee had racially abused him.
"But for that factor the suspension would have been significantly longer," the FA said in a statement.
The FA has investigated the allegation against Clattenburg and found that there was no case for him to answer.
