Insignificance

What to expect from them? What to expect from us?

I think Pep need a reaction from his players, but for him to read what Klopp and his team have done this week is extremelly difficult. We surprised them at Anfield and kept them quite all New Years eve. It will probably be a different game this time around, and normally City is capable of scoring and we of conceding, so a dull 0-0 is not to be expected.

It is hard to Guess what Liverpool will show up with. The pattern has been that we have had plenty of fight in us when playing top half teams, and less spirit when playing bottom half. This is only partly true, as we rolled over quite a few teams during the Autumn, and goals came from everywhere, but the trend is still there.

Over Our last 4 games we have played very well against Arsenal and Spurs and shit against Burnley and Leicester. Burnley and Leicester we have had 11 poor individual performances and not looked like a team at all. No fight, not rythm and no leadership. We desperately need that from 1st minute against City, as it will be very difficult to get anything from the game if we give away an early goal again.

How do People see City compared to Arsenal and Spurs? The two London teams seem to have been very sutiable for us. While the City game at Anfield was a rough fight for every ball, the games against the Londoners we have rather rolled over them like a machine. Ball moving fast, plenty of runs in fornt and midfielders tracking back as well as creating chances. Are we capable of finding that form for the City game?

We have had plenty of time to resolve the problems from last game as we had a full week. City had all focus on the midweek game and come home from France with a hangover. Still they have a few days to prepare.

I really hope Firmino is back as he seem to enjoy playing against City. Coutinho must take the opprotunity to hit back from the disaster performance last time. The midfield, whoever turns up, must fight together, as they were all over the Place last time. I don't believe Hendo will be thrown straight back in if fit, but I really hope this week has been used to drill the midfield with whoever we expect to play. Probably Can deep and Lallana and Wijnaldum. The two latter will need all their stamina to track Down blue shirts. Defence need protection as we are too well aware what might happen against teams that have the ability to open up even the tightest defence out there. Mignolet will probably be tested more by shots than crosses, which is his strengths. And Mane should have more room to attack than against Burnley and Leicester, as City like to push fullbacks higher. Open game but a huge game for both teams!!!

I've always backed us against the top sides under Klopp, however i think we will beaten here.

2-1

We'll win. If we can get our noses in front I think they'll crumble.

City are really fragile at the back right now and we have the potential to exploit.

1-3

Tough one to call. Away, and against a team with quality all over the pitch, apart from in goal. At least we will benefit from the absence of a bus, but then, I'm sure we will leak a goal or two with the way we defend. 2-3

They'll come out to play us, so we should play pretty well. However I don't think means we'll definitely win, cos they've got a good attack & we have a defence which is the opposite of good.

I think we could just scrape a win in a very exciting game for the neutrals, that gives the rest of us a fucking heart attack. 2-3 or 4-3 or something.

Both teams have mediocre defences, which makes an avalanche of goals is possible.

So we'll probably make them look like AC Milan in the 90s

Can't see why there is so much optimism our defense is miles worse than theirs and their attack is miles better than ours.

I agree, but I don't think the attack or defence is "miles" better or worse in either team. We have still scored more than them so far in the league, even if we have conceded more goals. But we've conceded more goals than anyone else in the Top 6 or 7 teams, and we've had a shit defence for years.

What? Why on Earth has noone talked about this before now???

Reckon Firmino will play?

Klopp: "Hendo no chance, Sturridge no chance, Firmino didn't train with team so far, but should either today or tomorrow."
Judging by what Klopp has done so far this season, if a player hasn't trained by Thursday I don't think he's started the match at the weekend.

Based on that I'd guess Firmino will make the bench & come on in the second half.

However because we have a week between each game now his approach to that may change.

Firmino was back running a few days ago I think, so if he can train with the first team today or tomorrow, he should be involved.
Hopefully Origi will be available aswell.

We need one of them to start upfront, and I hope that is Firmino.

Well god damn, it's just ray of sunshine after ray of sunshine in here.

I'll go 1-3, we've had their measure the last few times so I don't see why that would suddenly change.

These next two games, theoreticaly, should be fairly good for us as both City & Everton ate basically forced into trying to attack us, neither set of fans, their own ambitions, or their style of play, can allow them to try to simply park the bus.

It's not too hard to imagine us getting another couple of wins on the bounce here.

Yes, I imagine our defence will leak a goal or two, but their defence is shite as well & Klopp has consistently got the better of the best managers in the league when head to head with them.

We'll win this. I rolled my lucky jinxy dice and it came out 1-2 to the Reds. Goal in the last 5mins appaz. 🙂

As far as what the result will be ....
City have had a tough week and must be on a low. Tough tough game for them vs. Monaco even if not a long return trip. Unfortunately only Jesus and Gundogan are missing for City - though that's still great news for us !

We have 7 injuries to their 2 but only a couple we'll really miss (Henderson and Firmino if he doesn't make it) though Origi is down sick as well at the moment.

We'll score. we'll concede. 2-2.

We always beat city in recent years. Coutinho always revels in the space their midfield allows him. The concern this year in our forward options. We will need Firmino to start and to have a good match to make the above possible. Origi was shite against Burnley.
