Liverpool FC are close to agreeing a deal with AC Milan to allow Suso to move to the San Siro this month.

The Spanish midfielder was expected to sign for the Serie A outfit on a four-year contract when his Reds deal expires this summer.

However, Liverpool are happy to bring forward his departure in return for a nominal fee and Milan are willing to pay to make that happen.

The 21-year-old annoyed the Reds by failing to inform them that he was travelling to Italy on his day off last Sunday in order to undergo a medical.

Suso made 21 appearances for Liverpool following his arrival from Cadiz in 2010.

He did hold talks with the club over a new deal last summer but it soon became apparent that an agreement couldn’t be reached.

Suso scored on his last outing for the Reds – the League Cup tie against Middlesbrough back in September. He then suffered a groin injury which required surgery and has only recently returned to full training.[/article]

I'm not sure this is the right move ... but alas, Rodgers just didn't see what he needed despite the opportunities he gave him. He'll do well in Italy.

In football as in other contexts, things sometimes don't work out even though you feel they should have done. Best for all concerned to move on when that happens. The football in Serie A should suit him.

I'm not sure why he never really got any playing time here, maybe the boss saw something completely different in training, he seemed to look ok when he did get a game.

[article]On Saturday morning AC Milan confirmed the permanent transfer of Suso from Liverpool FC with an official statement on the website in the breaking news section: “AC Milan would like to communicate the signing of Suso from Liverpool FC on a permanent transfer. Suso has signed a contract with AC Milan until the 30th of June 2019.”

The English club meanwhile also confirmed the transfer and thanked the Spaniard for his service to the club.

On Monday meanwhile, Jesus Fernandez Saez, known as Suso, landed at Malpensa Airport. Click here to see a photo of his arrival from the club’s official twitter account. Suso has since chosen the no. 8 jersey because it was also his shirt number when he won the Under-19 European Championships with Spain in 2012. Suso then visited the club's headquarters Casa Milan. Former Liverpool FC midfielder Suso says that he left Anfield for AC Milan because the Reds' contract offer did not appeal to him both “economically nor in a sporting sense.”

The Spanish youngster departed Anfield this week after rejecting the offer of fresh terms and signing a deal with Italian giants Milan. Suso says that Liverpool’s offer didn’t meet his demands, and that he couldn’t turn down the chance to move to Italy. He told MARCA: “My contract was set to expire in June and Liverpool’s offers did not satisfy me, neither economically nor in a sporting sense.

“I arrived very much as a boy and I have learned a lot. I have grown, but I have not noticed a lot of trust in me. “I wanted a change of scenery. And Milan offers me everything that I needed. "I am very grateful to Liverpool, I have left great friends there. But now I think only about making my Milan debut."

Suso also spoke of his admiration for Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard. He said: "What did I learn from Steven Gerrard? His professionalism. “With the level he has shown, all that he has won and the admiration that he has generated and still generates in his city, in his country and all around the world. Steven trains each day as if it were his first, as if he was a youth player. It was a daily lesson."

Shame, but ultimately it boils down to an honest difference of opinion - our estimation of him differing from his own. It happens.
