Watched Dortmund-Madrid live. The Spaniards had a big advantage from set pieces – Dortmund are a very physically slight team nowadays, even the CBs are not that imposing. From open play Dortmund was better overall, they had more possession and chances, but lack of experience or sharpness in the decisive moments meant they didn't do enough for the win. Guerreiro was once again the pick of Dortmund's players and I was also impressed with Weigl – he had the most passes of any player and 100% passing accuracy in the first half. Dembele is ridiculously talented, but still has to learn a lot about teamwork, Pulisic was very direct and impressive after he came on – Dortmund would not have equalized if not for him. We really need to steal that kid.

I havnt looked but Thomas Delaney doesnt sound very Danish.
Are you branching out Kris?

Thomas Delaney is moving to Werder Bremen in January. Will be interesting to see how he fares in the Bundesliga. Looks a very good player.

That show on BT where they go round all the grounds is boss. I mean I'd rather we were in it and everything but I do like the whole stress-free element of having 8 games on that you don't really give a shit about all at once.

Didn't I see that the PL money is now quite a bit more than the CL money, save maybe the semi-finalists? I love European matches but it's kind of nice to pay fewer players to ride the bench just in case, risk fewer injuries due to extensive travel and packed game schedule, and be able to focus on winning a trophy we haven't in far too many years.

Does the argument that not being in the CL keeps the best players away from you really apply to us anyway? We won't have the pull for top tier players regardless, methinks, with the wages others will pay.

Suppose. Not to turn this into a Rafa debate but I do think we probably took the big European nights we had during his reign for granted a bit. Used to love going to them matches. Remember being at that 2nil win over Inter...Kuyt and Gerrard scored late on and I going to the Albert pub afterwards... chaos til about midnight with every possible Liverpool song being belted out. Those were the days.

Good on Brendan. Would love to sign Tierney as our future left back. Looks a talent

City look awful defensively but great going forward. Kolarov has been shocking.

3-3

Rafa has been here before...

Rafa Benitez's Newcastle were down 3-1 to Norwich. Then....
Gayle 2-3 in the 71st
Gouffran 3-3 in the 95th
Gayle 4-3 in the 96th

The God of Jam always smiles on Man United. When I switched their Europa League game on, it was 0-0 after around 70 minutes. Rooney completely mis-kicks in front of goal. The ball hits the ground and bounces up to Ibrahimovic who has an easy header into the top corner. 1-0.
