That is a championship winning Center Half partnership.

Carrager was the more spectacular of the duo, but quite an assured performance by Agger.

Very Very well done!

It can be spelled either way....

Great performances by both of them. I've always rated Agger higher than Skrtel. Hopefully we can keep him fit.

Skrtel flatters to deceive. Much much rather agger in there. Its no coincidence carra looked like a different player.

I was very glad to see Sami at the start of the match...some how a strange sense of assurance after seeing him and the king.

They played brilliantly today.

Carragher was back to his glorious best and it's because of his confidence in Daniel Agger.

I don't agree about Skrtel, but it has to be said that Carra looks happier alongside Agger.

Full marks to Carra, he raised his performance today and led by example. And he looked very comfortable alongside Agger. Our first clean sheet in weeks points to as much.

A clean sheet against the scum is a sign of much needed improvement. Hard work and application is what we need to continue on an upward curve. We have the players but need the performances and results now.

Agger gives us assurance at the back. Carra showed much improved form.

He's been better since Johnson reined in the attacking so he could baby sit Carragher and protect him from the one on ones. He got caught one on one once today and almost got sent off. It seems a shame to have to sacrifice Johnson.

kwality the pair of them, nothing beyond what we expect but after the frailties it was goo to see

Michael Owen is world class at finding space to run in behind the defense like that. The important thing is he stopped that attack. I'm afraid you are clutching at straws.

United may have a weak midfield. But an attacking quartet of Rooney, Berba, Giggs, Valencia is as potent as any we would come across and to keep them down to 3 or 4 attempts on goal is no ordinary feet. It was a much needed improvement for our defense.

Also Johnson is not meant to attack all the time. He would be played as a winger if that's the case. As a right back it is an important part of the job to sweep after the centers. How does that make Carra any less of a player? Every player needs 10 other footballer to play alongside.

But i thought Agger today was the better of the two even if he was less spectacular. Especially considering they channeled to attack Insua's flank.

Anytime the ball came near them, they attacked it and imposed themselves.

Brilliant to see that kind of strength and aggression.

Berbatov and Rooneh shat themselves.

Yeah, Carra & Agger played well today but both made a big mistake each.
Agger's fould on Giggs should have a pen and Carragher should have been sent off.
Still it was good to keep a clean sheet.

Disagree with the bit in bold. Good summary otherwise.

It was no conicidence that we looked far more solid as a defensive unit with Johnson and Insua instructed to stay in our own half.

What you lose on the swings, you gain on the roundabouts.

The roundabouts here are full of tarts. €10 Hand, €20 Oral so I'm told. Not sure that I'd gain a lot there except pox.

18m for the best attacking full back in england only to tell him he has to play like Arbeloa doesn't even out IMO. If the full backs are going to sit, any old clogger could do that job and the money would have been better spent on a Silva/Striker/CM.

Disagree. You need a fullback who can operate anywhere up or down the wing. Arbeloa could do that actually, but Johnson's much better at the attacking bit and (as yesterday showed) not nearly as ropey at defending as the current media bullsh!t would have anyone believe.

But you're not going to tell Johnson to sit in every match and you certainly won't against the canon fodder.

Yesterday's demand on Johnson was a defensive one and for a man who is supposedly England weak link and can't defend, he snuffed out apparently the player of the season so far with considerable ease. He contributed fully to our win yesterday and showed he can be defensively tight when the occasion demand. This bodes well for the future as we all know he can offer lots to the attack too.
