Rodgers: Scott Brown is like Steven Gerrard

Brendan Rodgers hasn’t wasted time at Celtic, has he?
He’s been comparing his current club captain, Scott Brown, to Steven Gerrard.
Well, they both have two legs, I suppose.

They are very similar. They want what is best for the club.
Scott’s ambition is for the club, not for himself.
That’s what you find in these types of players – they are not selfish. Everything they do is based around what’s best for the team and they put themselves secondary to that.
Steven, like Scott, was a wonderful ambassador for his club. And in the changing room they are very strong, they are able to lead.
You need your lieutenants in there who can control that and certainly he is one of them.

He’s also spoken about Luis Suarez and Leigh Griffiths in the same breath, too.

Leigh plays on the limit, as a number of our boys do. That’s what you want as a coach and a manager.
If he had a different name – a more Latino name – this guy would be talked about as being worth 15 million quid, for sure. Luis Suarez played on edge and he was alright.
