And then sell (obviously)!

Yes. We have a pretty easy schedule ahead so I think he can get 9 more goals in the 10 games we have left.

Well he 1 off 30 in all competitions. 29 goals and 12 assists in 40 games. That's phenomenal.

I don't want to say the i word but when was the last time we had a good striker that made it through a whole season? Fantastico if he does, only about 6 other people have hit 30.

Amazing if he does but still, even if he gets to 25/26 that would be amazing.

What is the highest return from an LFC striker in a season (league goals)?

I believe Fowler got close to 30 in the mid 90s.
We'll have a new legend if beats that.

You all do realise, that now this thread has come to exist, he won't score another goal for at least 5 games?

Played 33 out of 38 in the League.. in his first season.. He was a bit hit and miss after that..

Fair enough I have a shit memory. It's probably Michael Owen that has created this perception of mine, he was the one where you always thought we'd title challenge or come close if he could stay fit for a season.

Coincidentally if that was the last time we had a fully fit striker for a season didn't we finish 2nd the following season? I hope that repeats itself.

The year we won the champions league baros was our league top scorer with 9 that's pathetic !!
I was thinking that myself - Those six crazy minutes were a bloody miracle! Pongolle, Baros and Mellor were our only strikers I seem to recall.

when you think how many good chances he has missed and he does not take penalties like Shearer, Fowler and many other did it is a superb achievement

I don't like this 'doesn't take penalties so give him more credit' bollocks.
Some peolple are capable of taking on the responsibility while others aren't. Torres couldn't stand the pressure, Suarez gets very nervous. So Stevie takes the penalties.
If the strikers can handle it, they'd insist.
Remember Owen with his 50% penalty strike rate? I'd rather have our strikers be honest and let the players capable of handling the pressure take the penalties.

Oh yeah I'd forgotten about Cisse but he spent most of the season out with a snapped leg. Was that the same season Mellor blew the roof off the Kop against the gooners?
Are you talking about this goal?

If so I'm pretty sure it was the same year.
