Calum Scanlon

Given how poor Tsimikas has been so far, it's good we're thinking long term about LB. Robertson will need a capable understudy soon.

Are there any good LB prospects in the u-23s or u-18s? Owen Beck?

Well, we've still got Adam Lewis, whom Gerrard rated as a great prospect (he was considered in the same bracket as Curtis and TAA in terms of talent a couple of years or so ago). He's had setbacks with injuries and is now on loan at Amiens. He's still only 21 and he does have real talent, but those injuries have really hindered his progress.

Beck's got plenty of potential, but he still has to work on the defensive side of his game. You could bring him late on in a game as a wing back, but he'd probably have a tough time as a proper LB at this moment in time.

Full text: Liverpool have had a bid accepted by Birmingham City for the England youth international Calum Scanlon.
The offer for the 15-year-old, who can play on the left side of defence or midfield, is undisclosed but understood to be less than £500,000. Scanlon and his family are now considering the chance to move to Merseyside and continue the next phase of his development at Liverpool’s academy.

Now is the time to strike for young players. COVID has devastated many lower league clubs and Birmingham (and others) are very close to shutting down their academies, despite recently getting 30m for Jude Bellington. There will be many prospects available over the next six to 12 months.

We just need Eddie Howe to find a club so we can guarantee a sizeable profit if they turn out average.

Feels wrong.

Think bigger brother ... Barcelona is crashing, French league in shit ... We can spend 10-20 million and pluck 10-15 of the top talents Barca and French footy ...

That I'm OK with. Just do it quick before Brexit.

Larouci must be feeling a bit foolish now. Good potential, showed promise when he got a chance last season, it was clear Robbo was going to need an understudy to step up this season, so what does Larouchi do? Pisses off everyone by announcing he needs to leave for regular football, thus forcing us to hurry into buying Tsimcard. Then what happens? Not much for Larouchi, who is still on our books but is only required for emergencies as far as the under 23s are concerned. Great career move.

He's 15 years old, not sure he'll be understudying Robertson for quiet a few years yet

So Tsimikas is shit then? I haven't really noticed tbh.

Does that mean we're still business geniuses for walking away from the chance to sign that Norwich kid for the sake of a couple of million?

He's been very poor for toon. A friend of mine who supports them has not been too complimentary of him

I think people are more pissed off with his injures than anything else. He looks competent, works hard and a decent left foot.

James Justin at Leicester looks a fantastic young fullback, they picked him up from Luton for £5m

Too bad he's a right back.

He is but has played multiple games at LB this season, including last week v Spurs

Its not like versatility is a bad thing, weve paid £11m for a LB who isnt very good at playing LB

Yeah I don't think it's great signing a right back who is the same age as Trent. Even if he can play at left back he'd be competing with Neco and Trent.
I'm not giving up on Tsimikas yet.

Calum Scanlon, James Justin - are they making up these names? Callum Scanlon sounds like he's been found in a crofter's cottage on the edge of some Hebridean fishing village. James Justin sounds like either a news reporter or a porn star.

The alliterative nature of his name makes him sound like a 2nd rate comic book super hero. Captain StandIn

Versatile full-backs are a plus, it's true – anyone would love Zambrotta or Lahm in their team. MOTD were very complimentary of Justin on his performance against Spurs and the relationship with Albrighton playing ahead of him on the same flank.

Who would've thought, even a few years ago, that holding a pen would become such a baffling task?

Penmanship. Bloody penmanship. If he writes like that more than about midway through his second name, he's wrecked his wrist and fingers for about a year. He's basically writing with the metal edge of a biro. He's probably scratched a hole in the table. Maybe they should just let them use Alexa to print a digital signature on the contract.
