I think I'm ready to keep Mignolet in goal next season. We have other priorities.

All depends on price and availability. But as Klopp was ready to drop Ming this season I am not surprised if we see Karius as starter next season.

No. Ward or a new keeper please. Ming has been better, but he has a mistake in him.
I don't think any keeper is mistake free. Mignolet has really stepped up since Karius joined.

In all honestly if we had Man C money I'd also look for another keeper, preferably Butland but as is we have so many gaps in the starting line and bench that we need to spend wisely.

Yup.

If a genuine top class keeper is available we should get one.

I don't know who that is at this point, but until it becomes obvious Mignolet and Karius will get us through

I voted yes but keep going back and forth. I ultimately don't think he is good enough but think any keeper would look shit behind our back line. Sort that out first and then replace Ming, assuming we don't have the funds to do both and/or Klopp doesnt want to give up on Karius already.

I think your obsession with Danny Ward becoming no1 for next season needs curbing!
Heh. Its only if we are short of a few bob. He's doing a decent job at huddersfield. Or are you just going to ignore that as its not the premier league?

How much would Pickford go for?
He's been excellent for Sunderland.
Sure there's red flags with it but I think he'd be a decent signing only if it was under 15 million though.

Mignolet is neither so bad that a new keeper is a priority nor good enough to keep regardless. If we get a chance of a decent deal for a better keeper we should look at it, but only if there's enough wonga left to cover our highest priorities, which lie elsewhere IMO.

im suggesting we can do better , yes . Or are you suggesting there is no difference in quality between the two leagues ?

This @HC.

But also, I think the Championship is a strong league. Its just an opinion buddy.

Absolutely in agreement

Mignolet isn't good enough, so we need to buy a new goalkeeper

But the last one we bought looks worse, so it's easier said than done

Anyone that would keep Mignolet for next season ought to seek psychiatric help...for those that would keep and AS FIRST CHOICE need to have one of those MOAB dropped on their head from point blank.

I wonder if Karius will be content to be 2nd choice next season. He doesn't seem to be the type who would – and in this case I think there is possibility he forces a move somewhere else in the summer and we buy someone like Pickford. I don't know if Karius can improve quickly enough to overtake this new and improved Mignolet – if not, then maybe the scenario above would suit all parties.

Anyone that wants to keep Ming as our no1 next season can fuck off.

He'll be back to usually shite self sooner or later.

He's had enough chances.

We need a top class keeper for the long term.

I don't think anyone 'wants' to keep Mignolet as first choice. It's about priorities. Which is what the OP is asking.

He has been here what, 4 seasons? Every year we wished for a better keeper. There is no doubt that we NEED a better keeper. It is no different from buying an outfield player; if a better player comes along we need to be all over it.

It remains to be seen if we could find a better keeper, but if there is one which we have a chance of getting we need to prioritise it. The man between the sticks is a tricky position but if we could find that De Gea or Peter Schmeichel alike we would be set for the next 5-10 years. Until Barca or Real comes knocking at least.

Ming is a midtable keeper. If he is available none of the top clubs will want him.

I dont think keeper is a priority at all.
Hes a very good keeper.
He makes the odd shocking mistake like all but the very very top keepers do.
If we have a spare 30m to get a world class keeper then fine but i still think a world class CB would stop half the shit Mignolet has to face anyway.

Being on this site for so many years has turned you into a right cunt hasn't it. I blame Ryan.

Not at all I'm just not a fan of any any fan being blind to the biggest weakness in our team.

He's a cabbage and needs binning off.

A few good performances doesn't change that

I wouldn't be surprised if Ming's recent displays are enough for Klopp to be able to sell for a decent fee. He hasn't caused me any real concerns in the past 6-8 games that I can remember. As mentioned, our issues are clearly in front of him still.
