Brendan charged

Was fine to call out officials on poor call. Not fine to accuse based on geographical bias. Simple for FA really.

He ballsed up and took a cheap shot. Not buying his excuse that he wasn't suggesting bias.

Hopefully it's just a fine.

Yet still no official opinion on the offside incident, I hate the footballing authorities in this country.

What are they going to do?

Hopefully he'll get a fine. But the FA are the biggest joke out there so nothing would surprise me.

Nah I think he was right what he asked.... Would mike dean ever get to ref Liverpool vs man city at anfield? I don't think he would.

FA stopped Mike Dean reffing the FA Cup final against West Ham in '06 according to Twitter

*cough*

Everyone moans about decisions and fixtures not going their way but questioning the impartiality of the ref is always going to get you into trouble.

Not that I particularly care but it was an ill-judged comment that served no purpose.

Yup

Well Fergie did it all the time and it still didn't stop them from winning.

The referees in PL act in a vindicative fashion.....we have taken a lot of shite decisions after the press conference.
Brendan either needs to not say it or go all the way. He should call for accountability and pile on more pressure whenever there is a bad call. Wimping out aafter making the tripe initial comment only serves the FA.

It's quite simple. It was a mistake. Because the linesman is a human being.

I don't mind a mistake, but a 5 yard, different shade of grass, defender miles past onside player, blunder like that? That's diabolical for the premier league, and I'd say the same if it were to happen to any other team.

He was caught in the moment nothing more.
Lessons will never be learned with a telling off from the Fa though.
If them corrupt cunts can't be consistent then what's the point of having a governing body to dish out wrist slaps?
It's fucking pointless in my book.

When making the appointments, a number of factors are taken into account including:

•- The current form of the official
•- The referee’s position in the merit table
•- Overall experience
•- How often they have refereed the Clubs involved
•- Proximity to the ground or city in which they were born or live
•- The team the referee supports
•- International appointments (For example if referees have UEFA matches on Thursdays they will only be available for matches on Sundays or Mondays)

What Rodgers has said is true, Mike Dean or Chris Foy will never referee us because they're from the Wirral and St. Helens, yet it's fine for Greater Manchester based referees to ref a City or United game. Remember Halsey's bent performance against us at Anfield last year against Utd?

Brendan has absolutely the right idea in attacking the ref but his execution lacked finesse.
I'm afraid he's shot straight at the keeper there.

Saying the ref is biased because he's from Greater Manchester must be the easiest charge in the world to defend and retaliate (and why shouldn't the FA?). He should have focused on just how appallingly bad the call was, how much it cost us in an important match, how lucky Manchester City was...and most importantly how much the other side's player was a diver, cheat, violent. Incessantly.
Look at how Mourinho / Ferguson / Wenger and even Moyes do it.

If I was Tim Sherwood, I would devote 5 minutes of my Press Conference to how Adnan Januzaj is a cheat, "bringing in diving from overseas, "It's not Moyes cause it didn't happen in Everton only now in Man Utd" and ""Hopefully Moyes will have a word with him to stop cheating but there is so much pressure in the league"
Instead Moyes has stolen his thunder with moaning about the penalty.

Like Sherwood, Brendan needs to up their game on this calling out the ref thing. Hopefully he'll learn.

The idea that the FA/Premier League make an effort to let refs oversee games close to their homes over Christmas is particularly irritating, seeing as it mocks those players and fans who have to travel around the country during the same period. Stoke fans, for example, were obliged to travel about 700 miles over the Christmas period to watch their team. So why indulge refs? Are they the only ones who fancy popping home to spend time with the family? Outrageous preferential treatment and hypocrisy that went straight under the radar.

Fined £8,000 according to Sky

I would pay someone £10,000 and ask them to pay the fine on my behalf. In pennies. Handed over one at a time. I reckon he'd get to about £1.50 before they say fuck off you can keep the money. Cunts.

How does it 'mock' players and fans....
Do you feel miserable every time someone gets a nice treat?

Rodgers was wrong to question Mason's integrity, if he'd called him massively incompetent no one could have disagreed. It also spiked his guns when commenting on Webb's performance at Stamford Bridge, which was much worse than Mason's. Now that Webb has resumed working with South Yorkshire Police the club should insist that he comes nowhere near any LFC match in the future.

No, just when you post one of your brain-numbingly dull and pointless posts. My point, as I'm sure you really know, you tiresome wum, is that the defence of using Mason closer to home 'because it's Christmas' hardly stood up to logic when the league was quite happy to leave several fixtures as they were during the same period even though clubs and fans were thus obliged to play far from their local area. If everyone else has to get on with it, make the referees get on with it, too. They're supposed to be professionals. You can't block a ref from reffing an FA Cup Final because he lives too near to one of the clubs, but then let him ref a nearby club because it's Christmas. The only logic to blocking the former is because of the threat of accusations of bias, so the same threat will be there if it's Christmas. It's woollyheaded nonsense. Allow both or block both. Rodgers was silly making the point publicly because we all know it isn't tolerated, but he was right in terms of pointing out the confused thinking.

This was the FA's explanation of why Mike Dean was deemed ineligible to ref us in the FA Cup Final:

"We have complete faith in Mike Dean's refereeing ability, integrity and impartiality. However, given the huge interest in all aspects of the FA Cup final, the fact that he is from the Wirral might lead to comment and debate which would place him under undue additional pressure.

And this is why Mason was deemed eligible to ref us against City:

"We try to have referees officiating close to where they live over the Christmas period to allow them to spend time with their young families during this time"

A dazed spaniel would show more rigorous thought.

I think we should be able to fine the FA if one of their refs get a decision wrong
