Who are the top three strikers of the ball in the Premiership?

In recent times:
Gerrard
Scholes
Lampard

But none of them seem to tonk it anymore.

Yeah, that's what I was thinking.

I mean very current, based on the last two years say.

Oh OK.
In that case:

Gerrard
Matty Taylor
Ronaldo

He doesn't do it often but Alex of Chelsea is some man to hit a ball. He had a free kick against us that was unstoppable. Think he had another against Arsenal.

Gerrard on his day was great to put his foot through it but I think his injuries have taken their toll and he doesn't hit them as much.

Thomas Hitzelberger can hit one as well but the chant of 'shoot' anytime he touches the ball is a bit annoying. Jermaine Defoe has a habit of putting his foot through it for every finish also.

Shearer was the master. Some of his strikes were unbelievable.

I think Huddlestone has to be up there.

He has great technique and a massive amount of power.

i actually never thought lampard struck the ball with all that much power tbh, although he had beautiful technique and brilliant finishing.

tom huddlestone would be one, and, though it's a while since i've seen him do it, stephen reid scored a couple of absolute belters when he was at blackburn.

*awaits khl's answer*

Oh, and Carroll has a foot like a traction engine!
Ha! I said that in the thread when he scored for England. I love it.

He doesn't count but Forlan is/was absolutely lethal from distance.

Rooney?
Yeah if Squiggs meant field goals.

- Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink
- Thomas Hitzlsperger
- John Arne Riise

The last 2 didn't score that much, but they hardly try to pass it into the net. Must've maimed quite a few fans in the stands as well.

Carrol has an absolute "boom!" of a left foot. Surely top 3 in the Premiership. Didn't see him enough to judge his right foot.

VanPersie has a vicious left foot on him
Alex at Chelsea gets serious power into a strike too
Beat me to it! Van Persie is a very good shout. When he hits them clean, Pedersen is a decent one from distance

Without bias in any way, Gerrard has been head and shoulders above anyone else for striking power in the last 5 years.

Going back a bit, JFH had legs like tree trunks and he made every sinew count when he hit them. There was another guy played for Leeds before JFH too - can't remember his name but he had exceptional power.

Riise was up there when he got that left foot in line while Le Tiss was also lethal from distance. I don't think he could match the power that the others demonstrated - he seemed to do it more from timing than anything else.

Yeboah.

Everyone raves about that one against us, but a few days later he scored one against Wimbledon that I thought was even better

What about that French geezer who used to play for Newcastle ?

He had a ridiculous left foot.

Laurent Robert. We were linked with him briefly ourselves.

It's not often mentioned, apart maybe from Saint in this thread 😉, because he usually did it from close in, but when Robbie Fowler connected properly (which was most of the time) they flew in.

Good pick. Scarily powerful.
