Be interesting on refs yeh.maybe the way of the future

not sure how they would screen conversations that shouldn’t be broadcast to get the balance ..
They manage it in rugby don’t they I guess

They do, but there's a totally different mindset among rugby players. Some of them are absolute animals and most of them could tear most footballers a new one in a New York minute, but in rugby it just isn't done to give the ref any lip. In football you'd need a very vigilant and decisive director with a fully functioning bleep button.

I’ve not watched a lot of rugby, just noticed they use the mic, totally get what you say and yes agree football different for sure ..fully functioning bleep required

There’s a reason for that. Dissent equals territory. Give a load of lip throughout a game and you’ll get thrashed. That’s it.

Yep. Backchat to the referee in rugby and it's a penalty, possible yellow card and into the sin bin for you.

Yeah bring it into football. Giving the ref lip? FK back 10m. Still giving lip ? Then back another 10m (as in rugby). Are we into the penalty area? Penalty it is !
The only issue with that is 10m is nothing in football, while it can make a massive difference in rugby.
The only area of concern would be around the penalty area, if a penalty kick is then awarded.
I remember back in my school rugby days we all called every referee 'sir'. Wouldn't dare start calling them 'ref' in case they got offended and gave penalties.

I just think football should introduce 5 minute sin bins for backchatting/swearing. It would 100% eradicate the issue.

Bringing in sin bins for swearing in football would result in games turning to real life Volta Football.

For some reason (spineless refs?) they didn't enforce it.

I disagree that 10m is not a deterrent. Anywhere in the opposition half youd benefit at least a small but significant amount by moving forward 10m.

Definitely should have it.

Its this kind of indiscipline that leads to the shambles that the thread about paging @Ryan is about...
