Any thoughts on the team that Kenny will pick? Raul and Lucas formed a decent partnership during Gerrard's hamstring absense therefore the central midfield will probably continue as is. Will Kenny keep the same formation and draft Cole or Shelvey in to play the advanced role? Will he instruct the team to shut down Charlie Adam to stop Blackpool's threat? Surely Kelly will keep his spot.

Lastly, it's absolutely fantastic to have Kenny back making these decisions.

I hope he plays

------------Reina-------------
Kelly----Sktel---Agger---Aurelio
-------Meireless--Lucas----
---Johnson--Cole--Babel-----
-------------Torres------------

Exactly.

there's only that many sensible permutations that we can set up. I'm not particularly worried. What I have is the confidence that King Kenny would set up a team to win, and not adopt Hodgie's 'pray we would not knell over mighty mighty Blackpool' attitude. THAT alone will make all the difference.

Fairly confident the above will play assuming Cole is fit, and the two right positions are either Kelly and Kuyt, Kelly and Johnson, or Johnson and Kuyt. I'd like to see Kelly play anyway.

Like it.

Even if Gerrard, Meireles, Kuyt, Babel, Spearing and Cole were all unavailable I couldn't bring myself to type-up a potential line-up that includes Lucas.

.......................Reina.....................

Kelly.......Agger.......Skrtel.......Aurelio

Johnson.....Meireles.....Shelvey.....Babel

................Cole.........Torres.........

Attack, Attack, Attack.....................Blackpool 2 Liverpool 4.

Wouldn't mind that at all.

As long as Lucas and Maxi don't start: arsed.

Lucas was miles better than Raul against United for starters. I know you hate his guts and all but he's somehow seriously improved his game this Season.

Still not good enough to be a starter week in, week out at LFC perhaps but even you must admit that he's gone from bad to ok of late?

Admit it.

You're joking. He gave the ball away twice on the edge of our box against the scum and only careless ball control by berbatov stopped these mis-placed passes being punished. He hasn't improved at all and is a huge liability.

Meireles unfortunately had his worst game for us on Sunday but he's a significantly better option than Lucas.

He is, and Lucas was poor yesterday IMO, but he's improved this season, though he started from a very low baseline.

I'd like to see Cole show his worth while Gerrard is out. I wouldn't worry about dropping Lucas for Shelvey. It's Blackpool, so it's not like he's going to get over awed, he probably played against them last season anyway too. Good game to start him in I reckon.

I thought they were both pretty poor against United.

Meireles passing was decent but he shit himself in the 50/50's and didn't win any. Lucas gave away possession a few times, played one nice pass all day and generally ambled about like a lost puppy for the rest of the game. He doesn't read the game well enough at all to play in a defensive midfield role, he ballwatches and is always caught on the wrong side of attacking players. Which is a problem when you've no pace or power that might make up for it.

Those two passes were poor he did however as a whole use the ball much more clever than Raul did against United. The latter hit the ball into either oblivion or United territory one to many times for my liking.

Raul is the better player and has showed in glimpses why we can expect a lot from him, but my post wasn't about him, more so about Lucas actually not beeing quite as big a liability as he's been used too. I for one is not that disheartened to see him in the line-up as I once were. Not particularly excited either, but still, that's improvement.

We must have seen different games then. The passing I saw from Raul was, at times, atrocious.

Shelvey is most certainly one for the future but against B'Pool away come Wednesday I reckon Kenny will pick Lucas as he's still better at moving the ball around than young Jonjo. Keep a bit of possession, something I think we did better against United, with ten man, than in almost any other game all Season mind.

the only good thing lucas did at the weekend was tell shevley to fuck off for wasting that free kick, which let's be honest was a fucking stupid thing to try.

What's Cole done to get in everyone's teams? I'd play 442 with Kuyt alongside Torres up front. That's how we played against Chelsea, and it's the most coherent we've looked all season. It's also the only time Torres has looked like Torres.

Kelly behind Magic on the right. Aurelio behind Babel or Maxi on the left. Lucas and Ming in CM because, let's be honest, we don't have anyone else.

I don't want us to play 4-4-2 until we get at least one proper winger into the squad, so we have to play 4-2-3-1 or something similar. Joe Cole could well thrive playing in the role he wants to behind the striker.

reckon it'll be something like this,

Pepe,

Johnson, Skittles, Agger, Fabio

Lucas Miereles

Kuyt, Cole, Babel

Fernando

It'll be great if we win, just to shut up all media idiots who keep blaming everyone but Roy for our terrible away form.

...without the lamest of lame duck managers squawking in the background about how the signing had nothing to do with him.
