Right, lots of us on 6CM touted him as the ideal replacement for Benitez. Just as many said he wasn't up to the rigors of the English game.

Surely he's proved himself worthy now.

Masterful performances in the League, CL and Fa Cup. I recon if he'd have had a full season there, they would've gone close to a clean sweep.

I'm bloody happy he wont be at the Chavs next season.

Well, he's a great man-manager. It's hard to tell what he actually did tactically, becaause even when Chelski got pure luck last season it was hailed as Hiddink's genius. And it was hardly a poor side he took over. But I like him a lot, he's a thoroughly decent bloke and undeniably smart as a coach.

GK, yes, he's a really decent bloke, which makes it all the better that he's leaving those Chav swines.

He did inherit a great squad, but when he took over, the Chavs looked fragile and susceptible, something that Hiddink patched up almost in his first couple of games.

I hope to God he's not in line to take over the Scum after Fergie goes, we could easily see another decade of pain under him.

It was probably a dream job for a manager of his quality - come in for a few months, and if your hugely expensive squad clicks into form you'll get all the credit and if it doesn't it wasn't really your fault. Having said that, he DID do it. He's one of the few top managers who doesn't appear at all neurotic.

dont get carried away, he's got some good players and done a decent job but any experienced manager would have. there is more to being a club manager in the league like managing a whole season, buying players etc. and Hiddink hasn't done any of that

You mean an experienced manager such as big phil?

I think you might find that guus did pretty well at psv, and I'm sure he would have bought and sold a few players in his time there, rebel.

He's a top manager. And he's done a very good job at Chelsea.

Hiddinck is a class manager and a class act, and has always been my #1 choice to replace Rafa. He did a superb job at Chelsea because they were virtually in disarray when he arrived and his record since has been quite outstanding.

However I quite understand him turning down the Chelsea job full time when it's quite clearly the Liverpool hot seat he pines after.

I like him, to a certain extent.

However, his reputation is built on his success with international teams. His record at club level remains "alright", nothing more. What he's done at Chelsea proves that he is a very competent manager and I much prefer him and his approach to the game than the Mourniho's of the world.

I think his true genius is making it seem like he's a wonderful, nice guy, while being one of the biggest mercenary managers the game has seen of late. Despite being a "nice guy" he will follow and has followed the money when ever it's been hung out there.

With PSV he won the Eredivisie 6 times and the Dutch KNVB cup 4 tmies. Oh, and the Champions League too. Not bad...

He's too nice to be a Chelsea manager; magnanimous in victory, & respectful in defeat.

He embodies everything that club isn't.

The highest compliment that i can pay to Hiddink, is that he is not to far behind Rafa's level.

He's getting on now though, so i guess manageing a national team is probably better for him at this stage.

He was always the first pick in the "what if Rafa were to leave" game, but now that's all been ruined after his Chelsea love in.

Well, he was by anybody who didn't want the special needs one. He would certainly top a poll now.

Way, way, way too cynical.

That's crud.

If he was only after the money, he would have stayed on at the Chavs.

Great access to investable cash, strong support from the owner and I'm sure a massive managerial package when he took over too.

I always been a fan of his - although difficult to say that while he was Chelsea manager.
