Mr Rodgers has them.

Senior player needs dropping? No problem.
Sterling starts well? Keep playing him.
Down to 10 against the shit at half time? Suso.
Cup defence after horrid start to season? Play the kids.
Chance for a bit of sentimentality? Bring on a 16 year old against the club he started with.

Yep. He's got balls, so he does, and I for one am loving it.

I hope he sticks with his convictions even if the results don't come for a while. I'm looking forward to bumming the mancs at theirs and Mr Rodgers chinning Fergie at the final whistle.

you forgot

"Letting Kuyt, Maxi, Bellers, and Carroll leave a team that relied on them for its limited supply of goals? No problem."

He's a touchy-feely toothy titan, okay, so he is.

Did any of you ever notice how nuts he is before he joined us?

I didn't. It seems he tries not to use his crazy-face in interviews and that was all I had really seen of him before.

He's a nutter. He's got big hairy ones. I love him.

Stop touching, Fudgie. Just stop it! He's a close-talking feeler who belongs in his own Seinfeld episode.

He's going in for the tit wipe! (A classic manoeuvre, but one normally tried on a girl. This looks like a gay bloke trying to force his partner to come out. 'Oh, he's gay all right! That girl? Oh, she's just a friend. He sleeps with me, okay?')

I want to like this twice.

You're joking, right?

Kuyt - as the man said himself, he was always leaving the Club during the summer regardless of who was Manager. Nothing Rodgers could do about it.

Maxi - Rodgers wanted him to stay but Maxi wanted to go home. Hardly Rodgers doing.

Bellamy - Rodgers pleaded with him to stay but the player wanted to leave for personal reasons. Again, not Rodgers fault.

Carroll - yeah fair enough, Rodgers didn't handle that one too well tbh. In saying that he obv wouldn't have let Andy go with no replacement coming in.

I never joke Gary and frankly I don't know what I've done to deserve your hostility.

Hes got so little style its not true.

If he was still in Carnlough he would be living in a single caravan wearing tracky bottoms and probably doing that job at the fair where the guy jumps from dodgem to dodgem. And hed have a fuckload of jangly gold on his wrist and some of those massive rings too.

All of the players' suits look as if they're a size too small. The jackets look like the buttons are going to pop off. Either they're all putting on weight or the club's got a shite tailor.

My friend Ian - who is ever so important - has said he's going to take me for a ride on his great big Harley Davidson, so he is! I'm so excited I'm going to give him a great big hug and a great big slobbery kiss, so I am! I've just sent him a text, so I have, telling him I'm on my way!

Oh Christ, Fudgie's on his way! I'm off before he does that 'great big hug/great big slobbery kiss' thing again!

Gene: having scored five in the cup last week, we may have the youngsters to replace their departure. Mama Mia show some respect to mr Hughes. He's usually kidding around when he says such things

haha yeah he is literally hands on aint he?

but I think it's all good & positive.

players respond well to a manager that can hold down good relationships with them, as well as being a tough bastard on them at the same time - its about getting that right mix.

gerrard spoke about this in his book ... how Houllier was more approachable, held good relationships with most players ... whereas Rafa tended to distance himself from the players & was more obsessed with the game itself rather than the relationships involved.

you only have to look as far as Guardiola & Mourinho - they also have found the right balance between these 2 things ... and the end result is that you have a squad of players who have absolute faith in the manager.

I'm not saying I don't see reasons for optimism, but I also see some badly wrong fundamental things, and a lot of wishful thinking. I do think our youth will pay dividends, but not primarily this year. The fact that we are putting so much faith in these players in many ways is just evidence of the problem we find ourselves in. Any attacking talent of any kind is exciting to us, anyone who might be able to score a goal or create something, because that's what we're lacking most, again.

And all these personality issues and styles of management, it's all trivia if you can't win. People begin to loathe the very quirks they used to celebrate.

You make good points. Personally, I was 'hoping' for a miracle run to 4th this year but if we continue on this path and finish top 10, I'll be happy as I'd feel we're on the right path, where the correct reinforcements etc would let us make a big jump next year.

Your last sentence is true ... People are however loathing these issues now! Let's hope it will turn out ok.
