Big Andy

Something on Sky about them looking to offer 17 million. If Rodgers wants rid bad, then I say do it, and get in who he wants. It's best for all parties. If he's going to sit here dicking around and not scoring any goals, his value is only going to drop.

As a matter of fact, 17 million represents excellent value for him. I still shudder at the fact that we paid more than double that. What on earth were we thinking?

17m would get us quite close to the likes of Leandro Damião, Hunterlaar, Llorente, et al. That would make the world of difference to the side. It'd be silly not to sell.

When you put it like that....but I'd rather see Andy make a success of his time at Liverpool. And despite the smug pessimists and the huge number of people who want to see him fail, I think he would do well for us, given the right opportunity.

Fuck that - he can't score, doesn't move, he never was the classic LFC type striker - NEVER NEVER NEVER, modern teams don't have players like him. It was always a mistake to sign him, Kenny was crazy even to think that an untried player like him could succeed. Sell him even if its only £13M coz I tell ya all - thats all he's worth MAXIMUM !!! Next season if he is still here then he will be worth £3M if we are lucky.

I don't want to see him fail, but he already has. A 35m player, who has played plenty of games, but has offered virtually nothing. We must not run the club on wishful thinking. We can and must do better in that position if we want to push on. We've no more time to give the lad. He's just not got it.

He's an England international who got us to a cup final, was practically unplayable against Chelsea and scored one of the best goals at Euro 2012. He's not fucking Andy Booth!

He will be leaving

i guess to newcastle or ? . If it does happen we surely have someone lined up to come in . Anyone any ideas on who ? Can it all be done before the end of the window? .

I think Carroll could contribute but it's rather obvious Rodgers wants no part of him. While he's gotten slack for this decision from Macca, I think he's probably assessed all the squad and realized what players aren't good enough to be active members of the team going forward.

It's rather obvious Carroll is done here, as is Adam. Downing is on the brink, esp when as Raheem has taken the spot Downing could have taken (& we've signed a player for that position). I think Henderson isn't in his long term plans - esp when you have Shelvey having an active role + Nuri Sahin's arrival. Maybe I'm wrong, but all of Daglish's signing (bar Coates) will be sold by season's end.

i wouldn't go against that ....and it just shows how dalglish and comolli clusterfucked the whole thing . useless really .

Sturridge is a risky one IMO. He definitely has talent, but I can't help wondering why he hasn't yet been able to persuade the top clubs he's been at to give him an extended run up front. If we are going to take a chance I'd sooner do that on Huntelaar.

Great news if true, anything above £15m would be a great fee, he is an extremely limited player, signing him is one of the worst transfer deals in the history of the game. Rodgers wants nothing to do with him and he is right, you cannot build a team to challenge for the top 4 with players that lack even the most fundamental skills. Added to that his attitude is appalling, yes he played well in a handful of games, but id say its less than 5 in the space of 18 months, that is just not acceptable

I really look forward to seeing him playing aboslutely shite in another clubs jersey I hate watching him play for us

I've heard nothing but positive things about his attitude from those who've worked with him, up to and including Joe Hart's comments yesterday.

I agree. Sturridge for me just lacks something. He seems to be able to naturally finish, although not consistently, has the right build & pace, but he doesn't have that ability I look for in strikers to anticipate a move. I suppose you could call it vision. It enables them to gain a yard it two without relying simply on their physical attributes (tevez reading Skrtel yesterday for example) & also allows them to the into space for passes & find teammates more easily.

Imo we need that in this system more than we have done before.

What did you think of his attitude during his first 16 months at the club, particularly the previous summer where instead of working hard on recovering his fitness after injury he got absolutely smashed up and came back to the club after the summer in an even worse state than when he he left.I could buy the whole "people say positive things" line if I had never seen him play, instead Ive been watching him making a show of himself in a Liverpool jersey for going on 2 years now, thats long enough to form my own opinion

Dont really give a shit about what Joe Hart thinks, when was the last time you heard a player criticise a team mate publicly? They are all bland robots who mouth platitudes towards the nearest Rupert Murdoch sponsored media outlet

So you believe in the same kind of rumours about Carroll that surrounded Fowler, do you? While dismissing positive accounts by those who, unlike you and me, actually know the man? No point in continuing with this, it'll take neither of us anywhere.

[And others please note: he mentioned the media, not me.]

My opinion on Andy is that hes a very good player who never actually got a good run of starts in the team to enable him to establish himself as a number one choice. I've seen him play shite its true, but I've also seen him be unplayable and then get dropped for the next match.

Thats my opinion and I wont be changed.

The fee we paid, which was ridiculous, was not his fault, and was more that likely based on the fee we got for Torres

Carroll needs to be at a team playing to his strengths. I thought he should have taken the west ham offer as they were going to build the team around him. His style doesn't suit the top modern teams but he's still a good player.

We really should call Newcastle's bluff. They are making out like they don't really need him, but with the african nations this year they'll be without a striker for a good month. They don't want that. They need him alright....£25m to them and £17m to anyone else.

See, that's where I'm coming from. There was a groundswell of opinion starting to back him at the end of last season. Rodgers has now made clear he's not part of his plans, and now all the positive signs are forgotten/dismissed. People are very fickle. I think the media in general, and many other fans, are anti-Liverpool - there seems to be a lot of vitriol agaainst us on football forums. Many Liverpool fans seem to get sucked in to these nasty, destructive opinions of our own players.

A fee of 16 mill is doing the rounds on twitter.

Llorentes asking price is 16 mill.. Easy desicion...

Indeed. I hope it's someone completely out of the blue, just like we signed Assaidi.

Something on the offal like - Reds agree deal for Damiao. Boom!
