Another link for a Rangers player- an attacking centre back if you can believe in such a thing- he's very good, but perhaps a bit rash in the tackle.

Anfield target: Madjid Bougherra

Rangers defender Madjid Bougherra could be a summer target for Liverpool - if Rafa Benitez keeps his job.
The Anfield boss is thought to be keen on bringing the Algeria international back to the Premier League ahead of next season.
But with Benitez's future on Merseyside uncertain, any hopes Bougherra may have of a summer move to Liverpool will hinge on the Spaniard staying at the club.
Bougherra's agent Farid Raayad said: 'There’s serious interest from three clubs and Liverpool’s is the strongest, but it depends on the future of Benitez.
'Panathinaikos are also interested as are Fenerbahce.'
Bougherra, who is rated at around £5m, could be joined at Anfield by teenage team-mate Danny Wilson.
Liverpool have been linked with a move for the 18-year-old as he refuses to sign a new deal at Ibrox after bursting on to the scene this season.

I saw Bougherra loads of time for Charlton and Sheffield Wednesday and am convinced he's Premier League material. I was surprised he was plying his trade in the Championship up until Rangers signed him and even more surprised he went to Rangers. He is quality and has no real weaknesses (although he is a little injury prone). I reckon he would forge a great partnership with Agger or at worst be a very useful 3rd choice CB.

I think for £4m-£5m he's worth a shot Whitey, he's solid, quick, strong in the air and reads the game very well. It's not guaranteed that he's good enough for LFC but even if it doesn't work out we'll get £3m - £4m back for him next year.

Hes decent and at a good age but the priority if we are putting funds into strengthening the back four has to be a new left back or two.

On the subject of left backs whos this Kolorov guy we keep being linked to? Anyone know if hes any good?

I'd rather Rafa sorted out other areas of the pitch, preferably attacking wise and then a left back before getting another centre back. It's extremly worrying that we've been linked to more than enough centre halves, but no attacking players.

Only if you want it to be worrying. The other perspective is that we know we have money coming in, and Rafa is tying up some defensive players on the cheap so he can spunk his load on a striker.

You may find them unrealistic, but to say we haven't been linked with attacking players is rubbish. Turan, Tevez and Benzema in the last week alone.

Has Carra signed a new contract yet? Could he be on the way out?

LFC without Carra seems unthinkable.

I'll eat several hats if we sign Tevez or Benzema. Madjid Bougherra? I wouldn't be surprised.

Whatever your opinion, the fact is that we have been linked with top attacking talent. To say we have not been linked with anyone is disingenuous.

we should avoid signing 4-5m players unless they are great young prospects -lets spend what we have on real quality.

We have been strongly linked with the likes of Gary Cahill, Danny Wilson and to a lesser extent this Bougherra story. They're far more believable than the pie in the sky stories of Benzema, Tevez, Messi etc.

Like it or not the signs suggest we're strongly in the market for a centre back, which is ludicrous given our clear deficiencies up front, on the wings and at left back. It's not a good sign. That's my point

watched him for algeria in nations cup he was destroyed by the egyptian forwars zidan and gedo .
