Its done and dusted according to his agent. Bye Emre. Not worthy enough to start a new thread IMO.

Nope, its some 'top italian agent' whos come out and said it.

He manages nani and evra so im not sure about the 'top' part of the above status.

How is it all there fault?
Usually two years before contract expires you offer a financial incentive like biggerbwagrs and they extend the contract by another few years. Clearly we did not do that ... thats why clubs fault.

But in defence of the club .. two seasons ago it was hard to tell where Emre was heading and would he be worth paying more money to. In many ways he is where he was two years ago....inconsistent with the one in four good performance.

We have been offering him a new deal for ages though. Its not about the money (apparently), its because we are refusing to put a clause in his contract. Can't blame the club for that.

Back handed way to goto man city for him i guess. I bet you he goes to italy for one season...play shit and then city or chelsea or arsenal sign him the season after.

Because we’ve let a high value player run his contract down and we’ll lose him for nothing.

He should have been made to sign a new contract or been sold a long time ago. No other option.
Way I see it too.

It's unforgivable to lose a player on a free in this day and age. There were no shortage of suitors surely?

It's strange though cos this seems to happening to a fair few clubs now, not just us.

I think in this case we decided to run the risk of losing him & a load of cash because we couldn't get another CM who we actually wanted in to replace him.

In future I think it would serve the club well to have a no tolerance policy spelled out to all players so its not repeated.

The main problem for me is that every other agent will be looking at this as a potential bumper payday given how we've handled this.

Agree with that but I don't agree that's completely on the club

Not sure he is high value. Decent purchase price and low wages. This happens and we will benefit from it as well as loose on it. People were furious when Lovren got a new contract.
