Liverpool's Roy Hodgson has emerged as the latest manager to express an interest in the transfer of out-of-favour Manchester City striker Craig Bellamy this summer.

Bellamy looks certain to leave City after casting doubts on the likelihood of making the club's 25-man squad for the upcoming Premier League season.

And Hodgson, who was a known admirer of Bellamy while Fulham manager, is keen to bring the Welshman back to Anfield just three years after he was sold by former boss Rafael Benitez.

Bellamy, 31, is still keen to stay at City but says he feels as if he is being forced out by current manager Roberto Mancini.

He told Sky Sports: "Reading between the lines how pre-season gone, it doesn't look great for me.

"[Mancini] has not spoken to me since February."

Bellamy continued: "I feel strongly I can offer something at the club but if I don't get in the 25-man squad, I don't know what I will do.

"I might finish, full stop, or look at every option I get.

"I feel I am not going to be part of it [at Manchester City]."

Despite off-field issues surrounding Bellamy in his previous stint on Merseyside - including allegations he hit then team-mate John Arne Riise with a golfclub during an argument - he remains something of a cult hero on the Kop.

His recent form for City has also demonstrated he has lost none of the pace that has terrorised Premier League defenders for several seasons.

And although the news of Hodgson's interest could spark debate among Liverpool fans, he could be regarded as a much more potent back-up threat than current number two striker David Ngog.

I read in a similar article about him were he said that 2 of the top 7 teams in the EPL last season have shown an interest (1 being spurs) but man city dont want to let him go to a direct rival.

If we played 442 I'd love to have Bellamy back but we dont. He can't play alone upfront so the discussion should end right there. Roque Santa Claus however...

He can play wide.

I would add the article says he is a better back than n'gog. back up? bellemy would WALK into the first team.

i fucking love bellars...

not only because im welsh... but because he is the kind of player that wears his heart on his sleeve. i think him and Mascherano would either be best mates... or would actually kill each other within a week..

His moaning can be a bit annoying - but it doesnt seem to effect his game like it does with Torres- He will moan for 10 minutes but its almost as thought he actually enjoys it.. rather than it being a sign of frustration.

He is a Liverpool fan and i think he deserves another shot... he could well and truely be a cult hero at the club.

It would be nice in my eyes to have another Welsh goalscorer at the club - Its been a while.

Yeah, but we already have Maxi, Kuyt, Jovanovic and to a lesser extent Babel and Pacheco.

I agree, i'd much rather someone new and exciting, but sadly they either aren't available or we can't afford them.

Back-up for Torres. Where would Bellamy play when Torres is fit, and instead of whom?

Im feeling incredibly sentimental tonight...

bring on Cisse, Baros AND Bellamy... or even the mighty Sissoko - Just to kick the shit out of people again- i loved watching him rough up the Chelsea midfield.

however- that lanky fucker can stay in London...

Man City striker Bellamy: I scuppered Dzeko deal

Manchester City attacker Craig Bellamy has hinted he scuppered his club's deal for Wolfsburg striker Edin Dzeko.

confirmed he has rejected Wolfsburg and claimed manager Roberto Mancini tried to push him towards Germany to help with City's bid for striker Edin Dzeko.

Speaking ahead of Wales's game against Luxembourg, he said: "I've turned down Wolfsburg. They are the only club they tried to push me into.

"They wanted Dzeko, so were pushing for a deal and wanted me to go the other way. It's not for me. 'But I've had my most offers ever and felt more wanted elsewhere.

"It's obvious Tottenham have tried for me but Man City have declined. There have been two clubs in the top seven who have tried to get me. Man City obviously want me to go, but not to one of their rivals."

Most managers should be aware of Bellamy's brutal honesty... good on him really for not being forced to join that 50 year old nob at Wolfsburg. . still stunned only Wolfsburg were actually in for him when Newcastle got relagated -

He was a disappointment for us after an amazing season at Blackburn, but I'd still take him back if the price is going to be reasonable.

Which it isn't.

If Bellamy doesn't make the 25 man squad at Citeh, and they refuse to let him go, I wonder if he has grounds for Restraint of Trade !

where did martins come from ???
[/quote]

Well... He's at wolfsburg...

where Bellamy stated that Man City tried to push him..

Doesnt Martins come with some speculation that his Birth certificate is dodgy and he is a LOT older than he says?!!?

Ive had a bottle of wine..but i think im making sense?! maybe??? possibly not..

If City don't include him in their 25 then he must surely have a legal case. It seems he has given up on staying at City but is being a pain in the arse so that eventually they will just want him gone anywhere. Fair enough, good luck to him and i'd be happy enough if he came back to us.
