Mario Balotelli shames 'racist' Italian fan
Italy were already suffering after their exit from the World Cup - but a fan has also been dishing out racist abuse to Mario Balotelli, claiming: 'you're not even an Italian'.
The striker, who suffered a backlash after Italy were knocked out of the tournament in Brazil, posted a video on the social networking site of a fan who he claims racially abused him.
The fan can be heard saying in Italian: "Mario, the problem is that you're not even an Italian, just quit."
Alongside the post Balotelli responded: "I'm Mario Balotelli, I'm 23-years-old and I didn’t choose to be Italian... I was born in Italy and I've always lived in Italy. . I cared strongly about this world cup and I'm upset angry and disappointed with myself."
"I am Mario Balotelli, I’m 23 years old and I did not choose to be Italian. I really wanted it because I was born in Italy and I have always lived in Italy," he wrote.
"I was hoping for a lot from this World Cup and I am sad, angry and disappointed with myself.
"Yes, maybe I could have scored a goal against Costa Rica, you're right, but then what? What is the problem after that?
"Maybe that's what you all wanted to say? Don’t blame it all on me this time because Mario Balotelli has given everything for the national team and has done nothing wrong on a personal level.
"So go and look for another excuse because Mario Balotelli has his conscience in place and is ready to move forward stronger than before, with his head high.
'Shameful'
Balotelli added: "I have a clear conscience and I'm ready to go on stronger than before and with my head held high.
"Or maybe, like you say, I'm not italian. Africans would never cast aside one of their 'brothers' NEVER. In this us 'n*****s' - as you call us - are light years ahead of you. Missing a goal or scoring less is not a disgrace, but these comments are shameful. Real Italians! True?"
