Avoiding Ryanair CC charges

I am not sure how much benefit this will be to many of you here but as Ryanair are the means by how many oot's get to Anfield I suppose it might save some a few euro.

Basically, from what I can work out, Ryanair are obliged to provide a method of paying for their flights that doesn't incur a charge. Therefore as they do not accept cash, they choose the most obscure credit/debit card, the Visa Maestro, as a method of free payment. While I know that residents of the UK can get maestro cards at many of the high street banks none of the Irish banks offer them to customers.

However, for anyone interested, Irish or otherwise, there is a virtual maestro card (entropay) that can be applied for on line, which allows you to avoid Ryanair credit card booking charges, normally €10 per person per booking. I know as I have done it.

Anyhow for any one interested here is a link to the website http://www.entropay.com/

Also here is a second link to an unconnected site detailing how to apply for the card and also how to use it when booking Ryanair flights. http://bargainsireland.wordpress.com/2008/11/21/avoid-the-credit-card-charge-when-booking-with-ryanair/

Hopefully this is of some use to some of you.
