I think it was a two year contract. his agent saw us coming.

I genuinely think he's a very good player but his fitness is beyond ridiculous, he should just end his career

it's time to hang up the boots when you are taken out by a crunching tackle from your 8 year old.

it's a shame because he is a quaility player when fit/full moon/halley's comet/leap year (delete as applicable).

Oh I totally agree.

Inside that broken body Theres an awesome footballer, I'm just afraid it's only going tomget worse for fab, unfortunately.

I feel so sorry for him.
Such a good player when fit but unfortunatey with the lack of options for the left back position in our squad we really can't rely on him and thus he's a liability for us.
If he's ever up for a pay as you play contract I'd love for us to keep him but if not his wages should be spent on a dependable left back instead.
It's a shame seeing as he's one of the better players in our squad...

One of the most technically gifted players in our squad...

At the start of the season he looked trim and sharp.. but the poor bastard just doesnt have the body to cope with top flight Football.

He is probably quite a good presence in the squad too. I recall reading somewhere that he is very proffesional and gets on well with everyone.

With Aurelio always injured, should we not look to use his experience on the coaching side for the duration of his contract?

Jargest idea ever.

I feel sorry for him too, he is a commited good pro and of a good level also it must be frustrating in the extreme for him not being able to play but facts are facts and he is made of fucking glass. A real shame.

We've been unlucky over the years with fullback injuries, Rob Jones, class, fucked.

Vegard Hegem had more skill than you could shake a stick at, top top notch ability.... total write off.

If there is any 'positive' to be taken out of this, it is the urgency to bring in reinforcement for the LB berth in the next window.

Markus Babbel etc

Its a shame because Aurelio is decent but, sadly, he is also a complete liability. As first choice he is no use because we should be looking at having a dependable defensive unit - which rules him out. As back up he is also useless because whenever we might need him chances are we won't be able to call upon him.

We need to get rid unfortunately.

Yeh, fitness coach
I think physiotherapist would be more apt.

Hahahaha, Sunny is a scream!

The tubby Argie Insua is still on our books. I wonder what's Kenny thoughts on him?

So we're linked to Taiwo, Wendt, Kadlec, Zhirkov and N'zogbia for the left side.

Pretty decent options with the first 2 free signings.

I suppose we could always use him as a nutritionist or dietitian. Or just a standby football on matchday.

Studsup: is everyone dismissing a coaching role out f hand?
To be honest, I've no strong opinion either way. I just find Sunny's initial take very amusing and was adding to it (admittedly poorly)

Anyway, to answer your question (if there was one in there, and if I understood it correctly), I actually don't have an opinion on it. If he has what it takes to be a coach, and has interest in it, then sure. Being able to play and being able to coach are different things - if he doesn't have the attributes or interests to coach, then we'll just have to honour the contract signed and possibly let it run out.

I like Aurelio; pity he's made of glass.

How's this for for our injury-plagued glass men? All left-footed!

1. Jari Litmanen
2. Harry Kewell
3. Vladimir Smicer
4. Aurelio
5. Chris Kirkland (unsure but as a keeper it doesn't matter)

I though that both were left-footed. Pretty sure I've seen the hit more than a few with the left peg!
