If you believe the reports in the media - and it feels like there have been too many for too long to suggest it's all horseshit - he's available for what is a reasonable'ish fee this summer.

  1. Why are Dortmund so willing to let their star striker go?

  2. Why is it that no-one appears to be biting?

Is there something up with this guy that we're unaware of?

Dortmund have informed him that any move has to be sorted quickly, or he's staying this season. They said that they haven't received any bids yet, so a lot of the media speculation seem way off.

We dont make these signings. A top quality player in his prime with no re-sale value and can go straight into the first team.

I agree, but I don't think age should be a factor given you'd be safe in the knowledge they will hit the ground running. A la Ibra.
The 12 month contract massively mitigated any risk Utd took, his signing on fee was probably not £70m with 4 years of £150k plus per week either in all fairness was it ?

Which is why I highlighted the age point, not the fee. Appreciate the input though you sarcy cunt.

Well, not quite (it does suggest they'd consider offers of 100 mill.euros upwards), but I guess that is pretty unlikely.

What a strange affair.

Dortmund seemed to be shouting at random clubs to register their interest within a certain deadline, regardless of whether or not they had actually shown any.

There's a bit more to it than that. Apparently there was interest from China which didn't work out, after which AC Milan were in for him and that didn't happen either. There seem to have been delays from the player's side of things with which Dortmund lost patience. They then set a deadline by which a move had to take place. That deadline having passed, he's staying (pending a silly money offer). Doesn't seem as though everything's tickety-boo between player and club though.
