No team news yet :

Liverpool manager Rafael Benitez has insisted that he will continue to treat Alberto Aquilani with kid gloves ahead of Tuesday's critical Premier League clash at Aston Villa.

The £20 million midfielder has barely played since joining the club injured from AS Roma in the summer - with Saturday's game against Wolverhampton Wanderers being the first Premier League match he has started.

But Aquilani came off in that game with a hamstring injury to raise further questions about his overall fitness after years of niggling problems.

Benitez refuses to bow to pressure to play the Italy international more regularly as he tries to find answers to the club's poor form in the first half of the campaign.

Benitez said: "Aquilani did well against Wolves, but he needs match fitness. He was trying to be involved, passing and creating chances, but the Premier League is difficult and he will settle down little by little.

"It is a difficult decision with the Villa game coming so quickly. Some of our players were very tired after the Wolves match, while some had little injuries. We will need to assess them all.

"We will have to manage them carefully but clearly if Javier Mascherano is not available for the next three games through suspension, then Aquilani will obviously have more chance of time on the pitch.

"But against Wolves he was worried about his hamstring, he was concerned and I wanted to protect him. That is why we took him off.''

Benitez could play Steven Gerrard in a deeper role. The Spaniard said: "Maybe we would normally have two holding players for such a game, but we have options. Gerrard can play in that role, we will see.

"Lucas was tiring against Wolves, he was not well, but now we must see how he recovers and whether he can have more energy now. It all depends on how the players feel and react after the Wolves game.''

I need this victory so that Cunty Collymore has fuck all to say for a night.

I guess Rafa's not too bothered if we get 3 points or not! FFS

Another loss written all over this game!

Aside from Dossena (and arguably Insua), that's pretty much our strongest team at the moment.

Three really shit players, but the rest vary from OK to good to world class

If we have top displays from the world class end of the spectrum we can win, but I worry about the likes of Insua, Dross and Lucarse, but what's new there?

I never realized he'd give Yossi's wife a go ... Oh well, let's hope she produces.

I'm a bit startled as to why Dossena is there - surely we should just go with someone better? Fuck it, I'd even go with Buchtmann.

Who did you expect in there Bazza?

If Aurelio isn't fit, Riera is injured and Babel is, well Babel. There isn't a lot of others left..

I think I predicted we would lose, as members of this site were accusing me of being a Jonah with every 'we'll fucking batter them' post I used to make, but the closer it gets to kick off, the more I think 'we'll batter them'

But that said, I knew we'd lose against Portsmouth with the same trio of cunts playing, so, er...dunno

That wasn't helpful or insightful, I know, but then I rarely am

Well just counted the number of names on that team sheet and see there is 12, so nobody. Take Dossena out. But if it was a simple matter of playing either Dossena or Aurelio on left mid, I'd play Aurelio.
Not too sure about who's injured, suspended or whatever else as only back from a few weeks in the states, so not been keeping up with team news as much as I'd have liked to. Too jet lagged to do it today.

The tema that beat wolves (bar injuries) should start tonight. He can rest a couple of players at the weekend if he wants. Is Aquilani injured or just being rested?
