Not sure its quite KDB levels when you see the assists they make, then again no one comes close to KDB in what he can do but Trent is certainly next in line….probably top 5 in the league in most chances created? Only 5 players in the league with more assists (Robbo Saka Olise Trossard and KDB)

His assist today was a nice pass through that cut their midfield line but it’s not like it was put on a plate for Gakpo, he still had a lot to do. Couple of assists from set plays in the last few games and of course the pick of the bunch was the 1 for Nunez at Leeds.

Why would we need to buy 1 less midfielder if Trent continues to have a starting position as RB?

I dont think Thiago works with the new Trent role. We need 3 CM. We might not need a CM with gold dust in his feet but we might need someone with a bit more energy.
 
How about we just move Trent to midfield and buy a decent right back?
How about the lad from Southampton,
is he any good defensively?

I'm convinced Trent has what it takes to play further up the pitch. His range of passing is just behind KDB. However, I am just not convinced this hybrid role / formation is the right one. We haven't really put this to test against the big boys. I am not sure if Konate or Matip can continue to cover the even bigger hole Trent left behind on our right. Or how Trent will cope against better midfielders.

Klopp said West Ham's first goal was our mistake. I guess there's still alot of fine tuning to be done.
 
Trent is quality in this role. Top top quality and hugely influential. He also seems to be enjoying it and busted a gut to get back to defend at least once last night. Which he should be doing anyway
