Liverpool are reportedly happy to allow midfield player Oussama Assaidi to leave the club this summer in order to move back to the Eredivisie, with Dutch giants PSV Eindhoven said to be interested in taking the wide man on a season-long loan, says the Daily Mirror.

The Morocco international has only been at Anfield for just the one season now, having originally signed for the Reds from SC Heerenveen last August for just £2.4 million.

However, it is fair to say that the winger did not make a great impression in his debut campaign on Merseyside, featuring in only 12 matches in all competitions for the Reds, including four in the Premier League.
But while Liverpool head coach Brendan Rodgers is understood to prepared to let the 24-year-old move back to the Netherlands when the summer transfer window finally reopens for business on July 1, the Northern Irishman would prefer it if the player was sold permanently rather than just shipped out on loan.

We should be able to recoup most of the fee.

No loan, quick sale to boost the coffers.

We needed wingers and he was one. He didn't get a look in but the lad has talent. Not good enough for Liverpool it seems.

Weirdest....signing....ever.

NO! There was Jean-Michel Ferri!

I honestly really liked him - Whenever he played (which was rare admittedly) He looked quite good. I was surprised he didn't get more of a look in. Oh well.

PSV certainly need additions for their attacking department with the departure of Mertens and Lens. They got more than £16m from the sale of the duo though. I'd prefer for a sale or loan with option to buy. Unless we think he's going to come back from a loan stint as a better player and has a part to play in the future, a plain loan deal seems baffling.

Either we sell him or we hang on to him for depth. I still think if he's given the minutes he could come good for us.

His ball control and technique seemed very good in what we saw of him, but he had a tendency to be too aggressive, which is probably a product of sitting so much.

This reminds me of a Dutch fullback we signed under Rafa. He didn't last long but didn't seem shit either.

[edit] kromkamp?

Aha! Yes you got it faster than me. I was getting confused with Krombach, a German beer, and feeling thirsty!

I was always thought he was shit, but maybe not as shit as josemi. Is it just me or does it seem that rafa was always trying to replace finnan?

Thinking about it we have had loads of unlucky right backs. (See also Vegard Heggem and Marcus Babbel.) It must be like being the drummer in Spinal Tap.

He looked like great mazy winger. Pity.

Lads, you want a weird signing - try World Cup winner Bernard Diomede!

C'etait bizaaaaaaare!

How is it a weird signing? We bought him, he wasn't good enough, now we are selling him.

That, sadly, makes him a pretty typical signing! The only difference seems to be that he isn't that young and didnt cost a fortune.

Reportedly in various Netherlands media:

Ronald Koeman says it's a pity Bojan has chosen Ajax over Feyenoord but he's hopeful to sign either Miyaichi or Assaidi on loan.

Koeman said he met Assaidi in Dubai and asked him about his situation. "It's a player I like. He wants to play. We'll look if it's possible"

Along these lines. We bought him when we either had duds (Downing) or young, untried players (Suso, Sterling) for the wide positions, so it was a cheap purchase to beef up a weak area. That he failed to deliver or wasn't given enough chances to - he looked decent in a couple of cup games at least - just marks this is an unsuccessful transfer, but not a weird one.

FC Twente are competing with Feyenoord for Liverpool winger Oussama Assaidi.

Feyenoord chief Martin van Geel has confirmed their interest in taking Assaidi on-loan for the new season.

However, TC Tubantia says Twente are also moving for Assaidi as they seek to boost their wing options for the new season.
Says that they are liking to step up their interest as league campaign is starting next week.
