A DRUNKEN mum and her two children sparked a mass pub brawl during a karaoke night, after they hurled homophobic abuse at a gay couple.

Jean Griffin, 41, was supposed to be celebrating Mothers’ Day with her daughter, Kerry, 21, and son Michael, 20.

But instead the family turned the peaceful pub into “pandemonium†when they erupted into violence.

Liverpool crown court heard Jean Griffin sparked the mayhem when she launched into a foul-mouthed tirade against gay DJ John McCorley when he asked her to wait her turn to sing for the second time.

She hurled homophobic insults at Mr McCorley and his partner Brian McDonald.

CCTV then captured Griffin and her two children, who were all given anti-social behaviour orders (Asbos) in 2005, causing trouble in The Rose pub, in Binns Lane, Wavertree.

Desmond Lennon, prosecuting, said Mr McCorley and Mr McDonald were even forced to take shelter in a cleaning cupboard to protect themselves from the drunken family until police arrived to rescue them.

The footage, played in court, then showed how Kerry Griffin, who had drunk 20 measures of Jack Daniels whiskey, screamed explicit sexual insults at the men while lobbing glasses across the bar.

Her brother, Michael, armed himself with a bar stool but was restrained by a fellow drinker.
