Would you mind having him on the bench?

24 years old, quick, strong, can play alone upfront.

I'm not so sure a striker that can play alone up front is a good partner for a player that clearly does better alone upfront.

Not for me. I don't think he'd be happy with that arrangement and, though he's a decent player all right, he strikes me as a bit rough and ready anyway.

His semi-namesake Asamoah in midfield, on the other hand, is a player I liked a lot and would be happy for us to sign, especially if Masher does leave.

I'd take a punt on him at 6-8m or so, but suspect he'll go for 10-12m after the World cup. He'll likely end up at Sunderland/Birmingham/Stoke etc.

He'll do well enough with regular games in the premiership.

As for Udinese's Asamoah, he's the Masher replacement right there.

We cannot afford k. Asamoah so nvm. I like gyan but no more than 6 mil

After a decent world cup I can imagine they'll want closer to 8-10

Asamoah or Asamoah Gyan?

If we lose Masher, we probably will be looking for two new CM. Asamoah seems like a good bet. But i wouldn't want to spend anything more than half of what we get for Masher.

Ah ny apologies. Gyan would cost that much, I heard udinese want 25m+ for k.Asamoah. truly a shame as well as he's a monster.

I wouldn't mind taking a closer look at ayew and annan myself

Gyan is availeble for 7 mill apperantly. He ticks all the boxes really as a striker in the Prem.

I wasn´t that impressed to be honest. He looks like a striker that could do well at Sunderland or a mid-table club, but doesn´t have what it takes to succeed at the top level. Maybe I´m wrong... but I´m not so sure looking at every half decent option that ticks the fast and physical boxes is the right approach. We need more quality.

Only if Torres goes which hopfully is bullshit..

LIVERPOOL have made plans for any departure of Fernando Torres by registering an interest in Ghana striker Asamoah Gyan.

The powerful attacker, 24, enhanced his reputation in South Africa and would cost in the region of £20m from Rennes.

Despite missing the crucial penalty that would have taken Ghana into the semi-finals, he made the shortlist of 10 players for the coveted Golden Ball award.

New Reds boss Roy Hodgson has also been working hard to make Joe Cole his first prize capture of the summer.

Liverpool are talking to Cole and his representatives, but fear the Londoner wants to stay near the capital for family reasons.

The Reds are prepared to pay around £100k a week to Cole, who'd be guaranteed more first team football than he may get at Arsenal or even Spurs.

+1.

He's like a poorer version of Cisse.

Lol, 20 mil

The question is who is worth £20 million nowadays? If we buy him I dont believe the price is going to be that high.
We should have bought him as back up for Torres.
How? One-two-skip-a-few here's 15M in monopoly money?

I think Tevez will be the most ideal player to play alongside Torres and also lead the line when Torres is out injured. But we are not likely to get him...

Kuyt has Tevez's work rate and possibly movement but does not have the same touch of class.

I'd be looking at players like Tevez and Kuyt.

But i don't know what other player is out there that plays like these guys.

If not we should follow United and just buy a top class forward and worry about how we fit him in later. We need the depth* anyway.

*Yes, I'm shamelessly borrowing the word from Henry.

I liked the look of the lad. Plays just like Tevez.

Shit scout. Finding players who have good world cups or young players who do well in the championship.

I'm a bitch

Haha...

We spent £10 Million on Konchesky, Poulsen and Brad Jones.
Sunderland bought Gyan for £13 Million.

£10 Million would have been a sufficient down-payment.

Anyway, what's done is done. Would have been nice to have him in the squad, though.
