in the league in the summer.

Here's a quote from Ex-Gooner Bob Wilson:

"I was pushing a certain individual and Arsene (Wenger) went in over the summer and offered amazing money for who I consider to be to most consistent goalkeeper in the Premier League. It was absolutely not [Mark] Schwarzer. The person involved is at a club that under normal circumstances would be challenging Arsenal. One of the clubs with a great history and tradition."

So that's nailed on to be Reina then.

I laughed the rumour off when i heard it so im surprised we actually bid for him. Fair play to Wenger (I know you lot may not agree!) but i've criticised him alot for not addressing our weaknesses so im pleased to see he made a big effort. Still should have signed someone when we missed out on Reina, but thats besides the point 😛

Not that i think Reina would have came anyway.

I seem to recall it was pretty well known Arsenal had a major bid rejected for Reina in the summer.

The bottom line is that Reina is one of the best goalies in the world and so most teams, in particular those with substandard or ageing keeprs, will want him. If he wants to leave, he has the pick of clubs.

that's nice of bob wilson to offer us his impression of an extremely unsubtle henry kelly:

'what am i? i am a storied football club who play in england's premier league. i have won a record 18 english league championships and i'm not manchester utd. i am based in a north-west port city famous for its distinctive scouse accent and anfield football stadium. i play in red and i'm not everton, the other team from liverpool. anyone?'
