Robben looks old and faggy however he has proved that he can play in this league unlike Silva who could very well flop.

I'm not so sure. Riera is more disciplined, he's a better team player, a fitter player and he actually seems to improve. Robben would have some great games, but also plenty of quiet ones, and several spells out injured. And he'd irritate the hell out of some of us.

With either getting a one year loan deal with an option to buy, or if some of the Alonso money is structured in payments we could do something there.

Well, not if the plan was to buy someone else with the cash... I never like player+cash deals anyway - they always end up over-valuing the player, and Real are masters of fleecing other clubs like that.

True, and I know that Rafa wanted the cash so that the Aquilani deal could go through. But the way we have structured that deal, I'm amazed we didn't include him. As we don't pay Roma more then 5-10 mill during the first year.

I still suspect that Rafa wanted the cash for an additional player, which is why we're in such a frustrating situation now.
