Are they taking the piss?

They're just a bunch of morons, John.

I honestly believe a genuine amount of mental issues is a prerequisite for being a supporter of that club.

Before we get too high-and-mighty, Liverpool fans "mocked" Munich long before United fans mocked Heysel & Hillsborough. I totally agree with the arrest and I think anyone caught mocking any such tragedy is a fucking cunt.

Indeed we did. Its not about being high and mighty. Are the police going to start arresting the 75,000 that frequent Old Trafford every week, singing mocking songs about Heysel and Hillsborough? No of course they aren't.

Of course anyone mocking such tragedies is a nobhead, but lets take a step back here. What message does this send out to the common football fan? Well I'm sure its intention is to stop this type of mocking. However, the irony of it is very clear to most supporters of Liverpool Football Club; they, en masse, constantly mock "any such tragedy" and yet they have the front to say that people can't mock "their" tragedy.

Perhaps we should start complaining about some of their "chants" and see what the police or authorities do? They'll soon realise this is not really something they can effectively or fairly police.

I'm not condoning the Munich chants by the way, just pointing out that the action taken seems to be well over the top.

Yeah you have a point that it's impossible for the police to stamp out this type of behaviour but I'm so sick of it that I was just pleased to hear of someone getting arrested for it.

See what the police do?

Nothing, as you well know mate.

All they'd say is that the bin-dippers are feeling sorry for themselves again and that we should switch off the HIstory Channel.

It would have been more satisfying if there had been mass arrests at Old Trafford. 😉

I strongly disagree. This kind of behaviour may be pathetic, but it shouldn't be treated as criminal. The police are too far down the road to becoming the Thought Police as it is.

The more intense the rivalry, the greater the bitterness and spitefulness.

The chants are out of line and insensitive but when has that ever stopped anybody?
