Saudi TV are reporting that Prince Faisal Khaled will buy a stake in the club.

The reports state that the deal will be finalised today at the Hull game. The Prince will apparently be there at the game.

The deal also includes marketing the club in the Middle East. The Prince owns the Sports Investment company FX.

This is apparently the YouTube clip where he is being interviewed via phone. Can't understand Arabic so for those who can, you can make up your own mind.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PjP1Fvrii8I

The gist of the interview:

1) They agreed on two Liverpool academies to be built in Saudi Arabia. They will be in the biggest western and eastern cities in the nation.

2) They are in FINAL stages of concluding negotiations and reaching an agreement for the prince to buy a share of Liverpool ranging between 25-50% of the club.

The Arab prince is talking about meeting the Liverpool chairman and discussing a purchase of 25-50 % of the club.

A comment in the youtube thread:

Simple points about the prince:

1) he is one of COUNTLESS grandsons of the current king of saudi arabia.

2) he is not the most prominant of princes, however, u never know in a country like saudi? arabia (the financial strength of most princes is kept secret in most cases).. he is definately nowhere near the wealth of DIC, ManCity new owners, or the kuwaiti prospects.

The way the Saudi Royal Family is set up esentially means that wealth of the country is divided amongst a number of brothers with King Abdullah at the top of the tree. The majority of the investments made by the Saudis over the last half decade have broken the mould of individual ownership of investments (well kind off), e.g. the recent 15-20 investment in Barclays. Presently, a number of investment groups are controlled centrally with each of the major Princes taking a stake.

In short the investments made are supported by the wealth of the Kingdom. Considering it's the largest oil producer in the world Im sure whatever investment arm is buying part of the club wont be short of a bob or 2.

Any chance they might build our stadium for us?
Might be something in the naming rights and part-funding.

I mighjt be wrong but I think this guy is the son of the last ruler King Fahd.

I wouldn't buy a car off either of them.

Their buying not selling mate.

I'm sure this thread will get to 100 pages and then Hicks will demand 999 trillion billion at which point the Saudi will piss off.

50 per cent? So our co-owners now have co-owners! How the fuck is that going to work?
if it's true they will just split the board up equally and Hicks will say "we have found an outstanding partner to help take the club forward"

Saw that pic on Rawk with Parry in Saudia but not sure when it's taken from? Could be old.

Yes, but if the board is split up evenly and they disagree, how will any decisions get made? Sounds like a recipe for paralysis to me.

i've never been keen on saudi's. they are a really oppressive regime and imo far far worse than sinatra and the thai's. i remember loads complaining about their human rights record.

oh well, i'd like to think anfield will be less of an osma bin lunatic target now.

as haaman says a marriage made in heaven, cowboys and burkhas.

But if they stump up the cash and we actually get a new stadium who gives a fuck?

The 2 Ronnies haven't exactly delivered, maybe reinvestment from the Saudis will?

And all this bollocks about fucking human rights etc etc etc can go fcuking right out the window, this country is going down the fucking pan because of the softly softly approach to criminals, thugs, tennagers, drug addicts etc etc (basically the scum of the earth). Now i'm not suggesting we adopt a Saudi policy where we stone people or behead someone but fuck me when I was living out there it sure as hell made me sit up and ensure that I didn't act like a twat.
