fair point on Coady and Wisdom - it was Coady's first start, but the odds are against him I think.I'm a big wisdom fan, but his recent performances ahve brought me back to earth - he needs to improve him time on the ball as under BR he will have plenty of it.

Pacheco was a disaster I thought. He's had plenty of opportunities and has gone on laoan several times without setting the world ablaze. He's 21 now and needs to move on - right now he is probably blocking some younger player with more potential coming through.

Is Rodgers using up all the fans' reserves of patience? Is there none left over for the young players??? Give them some time!

Agree - odds are stacked against Coady. However, we've seen how two players on the verge of missing the opportunity (Suso & Wisdom) both took dramatic turns for the better last year. Granted, Coady is a year older so the odds are lower - but he's a smart player it seems, plays smart footy and if he puts his head down and works hard, you never know.

Don't fret about Wisdom - he's a kid playing an unnatural position. This is expected ... If he 23 and playing regularly since he was 18, I'd be worried. But he is a bit scared the ball (many CBs are!).

Coady hasn't pushed on for me from being full of potential 2 years ago. Decent little player but doubt he'll make it here.

On the other hand, Pelosi (similar in type) looked as if he's come on a bundle the other night.

This losing, nearly winning, drawing, barely winning on a regular basis thing is getting old very quickly.

I used to watch Coady quite a bit at The Academy. He seemed to be quite one paced but had an uncanny knack of covering every blade of grass, always popping up where the ball was.

That team suffered, perhaps predictably, the way the first team does, it doesn't have anyone to put the ball away, all the possession but impotent up front. Morgan tries, but he never seems to get in the right positions.
Though tonight we should not have needed strikers if first team squad players that are on twenty to forty odd grand a week could hit the target and at least test the keeper from in and around the 18 yard box.

The first time you've seen Coady I assume? He wasn't bad considering it was his first competitive game!

For a debut performance, I thought he did pretty well. Henderson should've come off in the second half instead of Coady.

Good to see Flanagan back with a good performance. It seems though that our young fullbacks who've made senior appearances this season all suffer from a similar problem - on the rare occasion that they overlap and get into good positions up front, they freeze and don't know what to do with the ball. It's like they suffer from a crisis of confidence in attack, or are just afraid to try something lest they give away the ball and are left with miles of room behind them to recover.

nobody wants to admit it , everyone wants to be a patient and good supporter , but if results don't start to pick up soon then that patience will snap and frustration will boil over pretty quickly .

I mean let's call a spade a spade , for all the supposed positive things Rodgers is trying to do we're getting fuck all return really . People will say look at the bigger and long term picture but at the end of the day we need results to show we are heading in the right direction.

Totally agree. They look clueless in attack, which is a big no-no in the system considering the wing forwards are encouraged to go inside while fullbacks provide the width.
Johnson is obviously miles ahead of all our fullbacks in that regard, and Kelly's the only one that came from the youth team that looks comfortable overlapping at pace and whipping a cross in or cutting inside. His skills are limited but so are most fullbacks.
That's why Flannagan has no chance of making it and it's either centre back or the bench for Wisdom if we had the choice.

My post last night did not get through, in it , out of interest, I said that we suffered the same as the first choice team, that no one can put the ball away, Morgan for all his effort does not seem to get in the right positions, that said the midfield shooting was woeful.
Still the positive I did not note in my original thread is this is an almost exclusively second-string side that actually did quite well , I don't think we have seen the like, certainly not with so many good youngsters for a while

regards

Pity those who could have fired the most successful manager in English history didn't have the same attitude! 🙁

I was tempted to say the same, but that was 1986 odd. 26 years ago. Times have changed whether we like it or not. But he must get this and next season bar any major disaster.
