Sometimes defenders go in to steal it hoping / knowing that if they're beaten by the striker often the act of knocking the ball past them or evading a tackle gives another defender time to tackle or get close. I thought that's what happened, Jones just gave the striker an easy option instead of letting Carragher get the tackle in, didn't think there was a need for a foul from Coates.
Jones is a shadow of the keeper Reina is, albeit a slightly thinner shadow.
His distribution, decision making/positioning (pre empting moves & being aware of other attackers in the box, are all poor.
His shot stopping is very good, so maybe the rest can be coached into him, but he's a problem at the moment.

20 minutes to go ... Suso almost got the ball through there after a great run ... Flanagan (he's improved imo) started that off with a wonderful touch and pass.
It's a part of his game Jones needs to cut out. He's come out when he shouldn't far too often.
