Pleasantly surprised by that. I do wish we moved the forward from defence instead of faffed about needlessly - it wasn't as though there weren't options in the last ten minutes, but my god we invited mistakes. Great play from Wisdom, Assaidi, Agger and Skittles.

brendon pushes stewie towards the kop to be praised by his disciples

Suarez was very punchable in the last few minutes. Shame he has to play every single game if we are to have a chance of winning, because he looks like he could need a little break.

Indeed he was.
Though I did laugh when he was given a free kick and gestured to the ref indicating that it wasn't a free kick but a dive.

Anzhi were awful but credit to the team for putting in a good performance when Gerrard and Suarez were poor.
Assaidi is very exciting to watch in full flow and Wisdom was excellent in all aspects of his game.
Bring on the Bitters!

Yes, he seems mentally tired more than anything. I do wish just every now and again he'd look up and play the simple pass, but he was great in the first half.

4 wins , a draw and a defeat in our last 6 (in all comps) . It's slowly getting a little better

Hehe, yes. I love how the idiot commentators on ITV didn't know what to make of it as well. "I... think he is saying... not to book him...??!".

Don't worry about Suarez, he'll get 2 against the bitters and MOTM and we're going to win the fucking league.

Why was Magic taken off? I thought he was one of our better players

I know the kids coming through has been the main impressive thing so far this season but honourable mention to Magic, most improved player this season I reckon. He's looking very good. I was on his case a bit over the last year or two but he's been ace for a while now.
Certainly he has been great in the left back slot.
Odd that Enrique made the bench and came on in the Reading game yet was nowhere to be seen tonight.

Odd opponents . Odd game .
Super Stewy saved us . From left back .
Agger scores the same off keepers hand "goal'' as Fowler ( could have been pre season ).
Brad Jones did not let Etoo score .
And is Raheem trying to look taller ?

Brendan Rodgers explained why he urged Stewart Downing to soak up the praise from the Kop after the winger struck a sweet right-footed effort to sink Anzhi Makhachkala and send Liverpool to the top of Europa League Group A.

Downing was lethal when he cut in from the left and fired past Vladimir Gabulov on 53 minutes to clinch a 1-0 victory for the Reds. After the final whistle, the manager implored his player to go to the fans and reciprocate their applause.
And Rodgers believes that the cheers of approval from the stands will give the winger a massive confidence boost as well as a platform to build on in the coming weeks.
"It was a wonderful strike by Stewart and he scored a great goal," the manager told his post-match press conference. "It's been difficult for him since he's been here.
"I think [telling him to approach the Kop] was just something to help his confidence. I think the Kop recognised it was a wonderful bend on the strike and if he can get a round of applause from them, then that would mean a lot to anyone; to a player, manager or a coach.
"And you saw how they reacted accordingly - they gave him a great round of applause and that will hopefully do him well going forward. His commitment tonight was excellent. He had to play in a different position in the second half but he's got the qualities to do that. It was a good night for us."
Anzhi proved tough opposition and Samuel Eto'o, a player who Rodgers has admired for some time, cut a dominating figure sporting the captain's armband for the Russians.
And the manager was keen to praise his players for maintaining a third-consecutive clean sheet in all competitions and for clinching a valuable win that propels them to the summit of Group A.
"Anzhi have got a terrific group of players and so to get a win and keep another clean sheet was excellent," he said. "But I thought we deserved it, I thought our intent in the game was to go forward and in the second half we stepped it up and did very well.
"There's been a massive investment there as a team and a club, both in terms of the playing staff and the management.
"I've been an admirer of Samuel Eto'o for years - he's a top, top striker and there's a number of other players in the side [who are dangerous]. So we knew it was going to be a tough game.
"[In terms of the away leg], I will do what I have done in every game since I've been here and when we travel abroad we will give great respect to the opposition and field a team that can win the game.
"But it was very much about the squad tonight. I always look to pick a team to win the game. It was our third clean sheet and we looked like we could score tonight. But the most important thing was the victory, which was very good."
With fierce rivals Everton up next for the Reds, the manager was keen to emphasise that his squad possess the levels of fitness and stamina to go into Sunday's game in peak condition.
"For us it's just about taking it one game at a time," said Rodgers. "The squad is not overly big but the condition of the players is very good so I have no concerns about that.
"Their work rate in training and in the games has been very good. So we'll recover well. It was a very good performance and result tonight and now we are all really looking forward to Sunday."

The full ruling from page 116, Law 12, from the Laws of the Game, 2012/2013, is as follows:
A goalkeeper is considered to be in control of the ball:
  • While the ball is between his hands or between his hand and any surface (e.g. ground, own body)
  • while holding the ball in his outstretched hand
  • while in the act of bouncing it on the ground or crossing it in the air

Are these the real rules ? Where's Binny when you need him .

Anyway , if they are then i really don't get the third one . Why is the keeper allowed to bounce the ball ? Surely that is just some habit keepers have developed over time .
