The Everton game and the Premier League is far more important and with such a small squad we shouldn't be playing our best players 3 days before the Merseyside Derby.

Suarez was running on empty against Stoke and we, Gerrard isn't 25 anymore. We need to be looking after our best players.

You can see the excuses already after the Derby.

Why is the premier league much more important ? We're going to do fuck all this season in it and will probably be mid-table . Should we not look to do well in comps like the Europa League ?

I agree.

There isn't much to play for in the league so any excitement in Europe is worthwhile holding onto.

Yep, I reckon you're right.

Anzhi are current playing well. Imagine how high our confidence level be if we beat them :0

Actually, if you look at it we've got 3 games in 6 days:

Anzhi (Thursday)
Everton (Sunday)
Swansea (League Cup on Wednesday)

That's quite a bit, and it's all fair and well saying play the fucking kids in Game X or whatever - but our kids are already playing. We don't have 3 different sides we can string out, and I can't imagine Rodgers, the supprters, or the Yanks being too happy watching us get fucking dicked by anyone - regardless of what side we put out.

Everyone seems to be saying 'save the best players for Everton' which is fair enough, but i guarantee if we do that and then subsequemntly send out the mongs for Swansea 3 days later and get royally pumped, you'll be exactly the same people moaning on about how shit our squad is, and that 'a trophy's a trophy blah blah blah..'

sadly it really feels like we are the underdogs against Everton ...when was the last time that was the case ?

Although obviously we can win the game .

The Anzhi team went straight to the memorial last night. Nice touch. Respect.

Nice touch by the Anzhi team there.

Anzhi play so far away from home that this is almost a home match for them...

Here's the team I've heard:

Jones, Wisdom, Agger, Skrtel, Johnson, Gerrard, Shelvey, Sahin, Assaidi, Downing, Suarez

Downing! 😱

Other than that - Good team. Looking forward to seeing Assaidi again.

Disagree. We still have players that can come in and replace the likes of Skrtel, Agger, Allen, Gerrard and Suarez - Coates, Carra, Henderson, Downing, Assaidi.

Playing Everton, United, City, Chelsea, Spurs and Arsenal are the big games for us and yes people can say we'll do fuck all in the league this season and they're probably right but you still want to do yourself justice in them fixtures, there's alot riding on them and they're the games you look back on when the season's finished. Reegardless of whether we're in transition or not.

Thanks for sharing! Will be interesting to see Downing again, I can't think of a time he has played since the Rodgers comments about him so he will have something to prove. Assaidi and Johnson down the left will be nice to see given a go.

Hopefully the board will be understanding if we don't progress into the knockout stages given that they offloaded Carroll without getting in a replacement.

Just after the summer window shut, they did say something about understanding the difficulties which had been caused by that whole business.

I just hope they draw the obvious (and right) conclusion and finance the purchase of a decent striker in January.

Totally disagree about the PL. We have only played 8 games FFS ! Look at the table - a small run and we are right back in the Top 4 race, it's not as if anyone else that we are competing with for 4th are taking the league by storm either, Arsenal look well dodgy, as do Spurs and Newcastle. It would be far too premature to write off our chances. I think we will be very strong in the second half of the season and any points gained now could make the difference come the end of the season.

Thanks for this, a lot stronger team than I thought.

On the flip side of playing the kids, if we keep the same team and win a couple of these games we could build up some much needed momentum.

Anzhi will be tough but neverton and swans are winnable.

Sign a striker in January and we'll be much more improved. In the meantime we just have to get on with it, occasionally we'll have to play a couple of games within a short space of time and play big players, it happens, you just have to hope you come through it unscathed. Sometimes it can go the other way, your patterns of play improves and it gives you more confidence and cohesion when you have a settled side that's playing regularly.

I agree the derby is a fixture that requires 100%, so I get the concerns, but we've gone into these games before, got turned over and tried to salvage something late on by throwing on the big guns (and ended up with nothing anyway). I'd rather see us just go for it, get a few goals (hopefully!) and then withdraw the players you particularly want to preserve.

I'm less concerned about the games being so close together with them all being based in Liverpool meaning the players routines etc won't be disrupted which I think is one of the big drawbacks of away games with travel/hotels etc as it is harder for the players to relax etc.

I think Suarez will start all 3, and maybe the defence will remain but we will see some changing in the middle with Allen coming back for Everton and defo for Swansea.

nfirmed #LFC team: Jones, Wisdom, Johnson, Agger, Skrtel, Gerrard, Sahin, Shelvey, Assaidi, Downing, Suarez.
