Speaking to Telefoot on Sunday morning, the 23-year-old was open about his enthusiasm for the Premier league, strongly suggesting that he would accept an offer from an English club if one arrived this summer.

"It's a league I always think of," the Ghana international acknowledged.

"I am Ghanaian and an English speaker, and the English league is the one most watched in Ghana. I have a strong preference for England. I am not seeking to leave but, if interested clubs have the number of president Labrune..."

Ayew, who was named BBC African Footballer of the Year in 2011, also spoke of his affection for Liverpool, the club he supported as a child.

"As for Liverpool ... yes, I have followed them since I was young," he noted.

Ayew is contracted to Marseille until June 2015.

Apparently he's Abedi Pele's son, did not know this

Would be a very solid signing in the 8-10M range, he checks most of the boxes that we are looking for.

Marseille president Vincent Labrune has admitted that Andre Ayew could leave the club if the right offer comes in.

Ayew, 23, has expressed a desire to move away from the Stade Velodrome, with Liverpool his preferred destination.

Aside from loan spells at Arles and Lorient, the Ghana international winger has spent his entire career with Marseille, helping them to the Coupe de la Ligue title in 2011.

However, Ayew is reported to have clashed with manager Elie Baup over his desire to play as a central striker.

Baup is keen to retain the nucleus of the side that secured second place in Ligue 1 last term, but Labrune is willing to part company with Ayew.

"Ayew has informed me of his intentions," Labrune told Le Parisien.

"If an offer from a big club comes in and we like it, I will investigate it.

"But we’re not at that stage at all yet."

Asked about Ayew's future, Baup said: "Let me be clear: I am counting on all the players who are here."

But Baup also confirmed that he would not be indulging the player's positional preference in the upcoming Ligue 1 campaign, after Ayew continued to feature as a winger during pre-season friendlies.

He added: "Who has promised to change our structure? Certainly not me."

Ayew made 45 appearances for Marseille last season, scoring 12 goals.

Where did he mention Liverpool?

I'd be extremely happy if we signed him.

[article=http://www.ghanasoccernet.com/newcastle-liverpool-target-andre-ayew-opts-stay-marseille/?]Ghana midfielder Andre Ayew has opted to stay with French giants Marseille at least until the end of the season after rejecting offers from English sides Newcastle and Liverpool, GHANAsoccernet.com can reveal.

The 23-year-old, who is an instrumental figure for the former European champions, also snubbed approaches from Italian club Inter Milan and Napoli to his stay at his mother club.

Ayew has been linked with Liverpool, Inter Milan and Napoli this summer with Newcastle coming in with a late offer to sign the winger.

The Ghana international has a buy-out clause of £15.5m and Liverpool, Inter Milan and Napoli were only willing to pay half of the amount.

Newcastle tabled the biggest offer £8.5m and the terms offered to the winger fell far below his expectation which led to Ayew’s decision to stay at the club.

“Despite several requests from European clubs in recent weeks, Marseille is pleased to announce that Andre Ayew continues his adventure with the club” Marseille said in the statement.

Ayew continues to feature in wide positions for Marseille despite a preference for playing as a central striker.

Despite featuring in 35 games last season, scoring nine goals, it was thought that the player would be interested in a move away in a bid to fully realise his potential.

He will now continue at Marseille where is is expected to fight to stay among the best players in the league despite the presence of big spending clubs Monanco and PSG who have brought some top players to Ligue 1.[/article]

[article=http://www.ghanaweb.com/GhanaHomePage/SportsArchive/artikel.php?ID=285066]Former Ghana captain, Abedi Pele says his son, Andre Ayew has no immediate plans of leaving Olympic Marseille.

Andre has been a subject of transfer conjectures in the last two seasons. Just recently, there were talks of him departing the Stade Velodrome outfit due to a slight misunderstanding with coach at OM.

“Despite serious contacts with Liverpool this summer, Andre did not go and he will not be leaving anytime soon,” Abedi told Le Phoceen.

When asked about his last son, Jordan Ayew who also plies his trade at OM, the three-time African footballer of the year hinted he could be leaving when the transfer window re-opens.

“For Jordan maybe in the winter he might go to a new club on loan to get more playing time.”[/article]
