Alves responds to vile racism ...

It has happened before, in the Swedish league. AIK's goalkeeper Pa dembo Touray was pelted with bananas and responded by picking one up and eating it.

I hope they identify those who did it and make sure they only watch their team on TV. At the jail's canteen.

Not sure why the image isn't working... Hopefully someone can fix / post it as I'm using tapatalk

The individual on the right is apparently a woman, I thought it was that guy from the Black Eyed Peas.

Dani Alves: Barcelona player backed by banana-eating stars
Stars from the world of football have backed Barcelona's Dani Alves after he reacted to having a banana thrown at him by peeling it and taking a bite.
The racist taunt occurred as Alves was about to take a corner during Sunday's dramatic 3-2 win at Villarreal.
Manchester City's Sergio Aguero displayed his solidarity by publishing a photograph of him and Brazilian female player Marta eating bananas.
Barca and Brazil striker Neymar posted a picture of himself holding a banana.
Chelsea's Brazilian trio Oscar, David Luiz and Willian demonstrated their solidarity with compatriot Alves by posting a picture of them with a banana on Instagram.

Compatriots Hulk and Fred and Lucas Leiva also lent support via their social media accounts, with the Liverpool midfielder writing on Twitter: "Congratulations on your attitude yesterday. We are together on this fight against racism."
Tottenham duo Nacer Chadli and Mousa Dembele were also pictured eating bananas with a message supporting the fight against racism.
Togo and Tottenham striker Emmanuel Adebayor said on Twitter: "Massive respect to danid2ois, there is no place for Racism in Football. #saynotoracism."
Fifa president Sepp Blatter said on Twitter: "What @DaniAlvesD2 tolerated last night is an outrage. We must fight all forms of discrimination united. Will be zero tolerance at #WorldCup."
Brazilian President Dilma Rousseff joined the widespread outrage.
"The player Dani Alves gave a daring and strong response to racism in sports," she said in a series of Twitter messages, adding that such racism had become "unfortunately common."

It's a bit strange the whole racism thing. I bet after a few weeks holidays the guy who threw the banana probably becomes darker than Alves is normally.

Funny some of the most talented players in the best teams winning silverware are Black or South American. The fans celebrate with them when they win but the same hypocrites throw bananas at them when its not going so well. There's no excuse for racism in sport.

Didn't Digger do something similar once?

On a more general note, this to me is *exactly* the way to reply to such idiots. Don't give them a status they don't deserve by making them out to be major criminals. Show them up, likewise the nonsense they peddle, for being the stupid irrelevances that they are.

I was about to post this too,

Barnes' actions were what inspired me. What Alves has done is great, he treads in the footsteps of greatness,

Was thinking the same thing; he didn't eat it tho.Kicked it into touch.
Sad that this crap still happens 30 odd years later

I got a shock when I saw this pic. My mind thought that the Italian premier (left) was Nick Griffin and I was wondering what the fuck was going on. I thought he was taking the piss.
