Alisson "more than a keeper" Becker

I think we kinda take for granted how excellent and consistent he is. All keepers have a few dodgy spells, but as a one on one expert and a shot stopper he's quality. And then there's his distribution. The lad is just top class and Mr reliable.

Yeah I think there maybe keepers out there who are better than Alison in some aspect of the game eg Ramsdale is a very agile shotstopper and Ederson maybe better with his feet, but as a complete package for the way we play he's about as good as it gets.

Fuck me - we should get rid of this thread, we destroy goalkeepers at this club, let him be and not talk about it please. It scares the shit out of me.

He’s in his 30’s - we should cash in while we still can and let Kenny Everett have a crack.

Wow, that is some stat. He's probably the best goalkeeper in the World this season.

Just watched the clip of Alisson in the Núñez thread - where he was talking about the difficulties of integrating into a new country and team; also keeping Darwin close and that the team felt it important to be close off the pitch too. He just seems like a very good, down-to-earth bloke all-round to be honest.

There’s something weird about his hugs with Klopp, they’re not daddy Klopp hugs they’re almost like mutual respect and enjoying the moment hugs. It’s probably similar with Virgil and the really senior guys but there’s something extra with Klopp and Alisson, imo they’re quite close or there’s a lot of trust.

….or maybe I’m just full of shite and completely overthinking how two football men i watch hug each other

Alison’s quite religious isn’t he, private sort that’s more family orientated than flashy football trappings and his family are quite well off in Brazil aren’t they?

Kind of bakes sense that he seems “normal”.

Togetherness of the team shouldn’t be underestimated either - we’ve had enough problems with “factions” in the past - I love that we don’t appear to have “bad egos” in the team - you look at the attitude of players like Milner, Elliot, Bobby, Robbo, Gomez, generally they come across as a pretty decent bunch.

He spoke English very well even when he first signed with us. He’s very different to other Brazilian players.

Alisson is indeed a practising Christian and, though it tends to go under the radar, so is Klopp. I don't think they're members of the same church but I would think that would be bound to have some effect. Another point is that Alisson is one of the few people around whom Klopp doesn't tower over!

Final paragraph: agree 100% and I'm quite sure it's no accident. Character would loom very large in the assessment process for a manager like Klopp.

He's religious and rich which is why he is normal.

Excuse me while i mop up my vomit.

I'm sure Ali is what would rightly be considered the correct example of religious, as in he follows his faith to be a good person. It's the same with Mo, so maybe that and a good family upbringing is why they are both so grounded and modest.

I'm sure he is a perfect example of a religious person. I'm just questioning the assumption that being religious & rich is the reason he is "normal". God (or whoever) help working class atheists, bunch of weirdos

Fuck off, he's a bolsonaro supporting cunt, and his high profile outspoken bullshit just helps that motherfucker burn the planet.

Oh he's not another bolsonaro bellend is he?

FFS can we not have nice things

Of course he is. He's a rich evangelical Brazilian. Just a bit to the right of Suella Braverman.

Just saw this pic ... love it

I think, when I mentioned it, I wasn’t suggesting that those things make him normal - it’s just they’re normal things - compared to the stupid shit some footballers get up to.
