Withdrawn from the Denmark squad with a groin injury, could be out for a couple of weeks at worst.

Faaack!

He'll be fine. Perhaps were doing a fergie

Jonjo, Gerrard, Agger...

like he wasnt gonna get it if he missed this game

There's no guarantees in football, I dont begrudge him getting this landmark. The England cap & captaincy clearly mean a lot to him, he stuck with us & lost his chance at a league winners medal cos of that, let him have his joy where he finds it, be it an England 100th cap, phil collins playing in a bar, or a young blonde.

Yep, Owen was probably counting the days until he did the inevitable and overtook Bobby Charlton's scoring record. You just never know. So go and enjoy it, Stevie.

I was hoping this would be a 'another goal that we've conceded this season that he's been at fault for' thread. but alas no - they're just saved for Glen Johnson; who gets a fucking e-tombstone erected in his honour on here everytime he makes a mistake.

Agger's been at fault time and time again this season, but he gets away with criticism apparently.

He also gets off with shooting from 40yrds at least once per game too. Putting the ball into orbit and usually wasting a good attack.

No that normally happens when he has fuck all out balls and needs to carry the ball himself, finds a gap runs into it and instead of taking on a risky pass when he is out of position 30 yards further up the pitch that he should be he shoots knowing if doesnt score he'll have time to recover before a counter.

Nothing wrong with it at all.

It's giving the ball away. There's something "wrong with it".

He cocked up, yes. He also made a last ditch tackle near the end when Mata (I think) was putting the ball into the middle with 2-3 wide open Chelsea players waiting to pounce. He's not had a great season -

Heh, I don't hate Agger by the way. He's a good player, not a great one like but he's admittedly not the top of our issues list.

I just find it weird that he's seemingly immune to criticism, especially considering the many goals he's cost us this year - all whilst others like Glenjo, Reina, Gerrard, etc get criticised continually.

Of course he's immune to criticism, he's a fantastic ball playing centre back who apparently plays the game as it should be, playing raking 40 yard passes all over the place, scoring screamers and generally just being a cool as fuck geezer who never ever gets flustered or fucks up.

None of our defenders hit the standards set so high since the end of the 90's, they're not bad like, but they're not great either. Neither Agger nor Skrtel are the standard set by Hyypia or (ironically for the small breed of cretins on here who just think he's a yard dog) Carragher.

I agree mark/ryan

Still surprised how Johnson is getting lower scores in the ratings than agger. He was great on Sunday

I think he's been criticized (West Brom, Manure etc). Skrtel has done the same this year. It's been odd. They've regressed as a partnership.

I know you don't hate Agger!

He's been good for most of this year, he still has the odd fuck up in him (I don't think that's unfair), but his form over the last 6-8 months has been excellent for Liverpool and England. He broke up the play well late on on Sunday, often coming central and just holding up the player and getting a foot in, exactly what we want to see.

Hes been good, but so has Johnson (equally so). Yet I've heard Johnson being slated more than agger.

Johnson has been consistently good. Arguably our most consistent player

I do think it's bizarre that Reina, Stevie, Allen & Johnson seem to be getting so much stick, considering there's so many players who deserve a kicking before them.

Has Agger made loads of mistakes this season?

The defence as a unit has been pretty ropey but I've not really taken much notice of individual errors unless they've been glaringly obvious (see: Skrtel's backpass).

Agger was part of the 3rd best defence last year, so he and the rest of the defence aren't a concern. Despite them being rubbish.

I'm so happy we've got all this players tied up to big money contracts for the next four years

I don't mind Agger much but yeah he was at fault for the goal, but as Keni points out he's not made loads of mistakes this Season at all.

Anyways he's still much better than what Ryan, Mark etc gives him the credit for. Same old, same old.

Luis Suarez comments a few days ago:

- Somehow it is to my own advantage, that Daniel is always in top shape and always performs at the highest level. Then I also have to be prepared and 110 percent ready to do my utmost at every training.

- Facing a world class defender like Daniel Agger in the daily training sessions, prepares me to face any world class defender in the world, Suarez told Danish newspaper EB and continued

- He's a top class defender you just don't want to face on the pitch. He's a very complete player and his defensive abilities are world class. Even in training he's really fired up.

But yeah, only decent blah blah....
