A lad on an Irish site was tipping Mali to top their group. They were 11/4. They were also 22/1 as outrght winners.

haha some arse on the Guardian podcast had backed them twice, firstly at 33/1 and then at 25/1.

He reckoned none of the World Cup qualified teams would give a fuck about it

Think they were 66/1 at some stage. I didn'tbck them so I hope they don't make it out of the group.

Its some tournament I love it. I backed Mali at the last minute before it started too. Shame they cant defend. 20 shots on target for Ivory Coast today too and nil all. That Malawi Algeria could of easily been another 4 all today, Malawi were very lucky

What odds did you get?

Don't you just hate it when people make sweeping, stereotypical statements about Africa being corrupt, violent, dangerous and African football being full of teams who can't defend and corrupt, clueless people running the game.

African Nations Cup so far:

One team bus machine-gunned after being told to play football in a region full of violent gun-happy lunatics, and a 4-4 draw after one side where 4-1 up with two minutes to go.

I look forward to a betting scandal, several players walking out on their teams and several great examples of "natural rhythmn"

Michael Essien has torn a knee ligament and is out of the African Nations and a lot of Chelseas season by the looks of things

More and more are going Arsenals way it seems.

They've coped without Persie so far and will soon get a few more strikers back.

I'd be extremely pleased to see Arsenal win it instead of any of the Chavs or the Mancs. (Now that we are 99% out of it).

African cup of nations

if algeria beat ivory coast and egypt beats cameroon then the semis could be fireworks revenge game egypt vrs algeria .on the other hand if ivory coast and cameroon make it to the semis a cracking game drogba vrs etoo.

Re: African cup of nations

I can't really see Algeria beating the Ivory Coast.

An Egypt/Algeria match would be great though.

ivory coast should easily win they have the best team followed closely by egypt who have played 3 and won all three .egypt vrs ivory coast should have been the finals not the semis.

Egypt have definitely been the most impressive team so far but Cameroon will always be dangerous especially with Le Guen in charge. Dont know what to make of Angola Ghana. Saw nearly all of Angolas games but haven't seen Ghana play in it so far. Angola are favourites though oddly enough

ghana beat hosts angola 1-0 thru to semis and algeria currently 1-1 with ivory coast an hour played.

[/quote]Yes, fucking up a double I have on Ivory Coast and Madrid.

extra time soon to start .Algeria have been the better side drogba is in bogherra's pocket his kicked him all over the pitch from the first minute .being drogba he could still score in extra time.

Fuck me, this game's bananas !

I'm deffo paying a visit to my Algerian Jacket Potato Pimp if they pull this off.

Good game, this.

Algeria have blown about 5 clear cut chances to kill this game.

The big Ivorians are struggling badly with the heat. They're almost out on their feet.
