A footballer has been arrested and bailed after a paramedic was allegedly assaulted in Liverpool city centre.
Adam Hammill, 24, was taken into custody after an incident on Temple Court in the early hours of Sunday.
Mr Hammill is a Wolverhampton Wanderers player but is currently on loan at Huddersfield Town.
Merseyside police said a man, 24, from Bootle, had been arrested on suspicion of common assault. He has been released on bail pending further inquiries.
The North West Ambulance Service (NWAS) claimed one of their staff had been "the victim of an assault" while attending an incident.
Dave Kitchin, from NWAS, said: "Our ambulance crews work tirelessly in all weathers, day and night, to come to the aid of people who need our help.
"We should be able to do so without fear of assault, either physical or verbal."
Under-21 international
Mr Hammill, a former Liverpool FC trainee, has appeared internationally for England's Under-21 side.
Huddersfield Town said: "We have been made aware of an incident which has taken place in Merseyside involving Adam Hammill.
"The matter is being investigated by the police, therefore it would be inappropriate to comment at this stage."
Huddersfield Town confirmed they contacted Mr Hammill's parent club when the incident was brought to their attention.

I remember the outcry on RAWK when we didn't buy him shortly before he went to Wolves! He was allegedly better than Riera and various other shit players we had in the team at the time😵

He should have been born in the 1970s - he would have done better in those days, when you could score the odd goal, do a few tricks and then spend the rest of the time getting drunk, smoking cigars and betting on the horses.

You talking about Hamill or Bullard?

from a purely footballing point of view i reckon pacheco is in a similar situation - he's obviously got skill, good technique and flair etc but there's just something missing to make it at the highest grade . but who knows , pacheco might prove me wrong but if he does i'd be surprised if it's at this club .

What? Babies were chugging Montecristos, as well as playing football, back in the day ?

What kind of lawless times were they ??!!

A FORMER Liverpool FC youth player Adam Hammill today admitted attacking two women paramedics.
Hammill, 24, of Hall Road East, Bootle, pleaded guilty to two counts of assault when he appeared before Liverpool Magistrates Court earlier today.
The footballer, who is currently on loan to Championship team Huddersfield Town from Wolverhampton Wanderers, was arrested outside the Revolution bar, in Temple Court, Liverpool city centre, in the early hours of Sunday, October 7.
Amanda Haycock, prosecuting, said ambulance staff Sky Armstrong and Tracy Northey were called out because Hammill was unconscious. But when they tried to put him in a wheelchair he became aggressive.

Miss Haycock said: "He hit out, catching Miss Northey on the nose, spat blood at them and tried to bite them."
She said police officers called to the scene to help the paramedics heard Hammill verbally abuse them and they could smell alcohol on him.
She said: "Despite appearing extremely drunk he had a very strong grip and was difficult to restrain.
"With the help of colleagues who had arrived to assist he was placed in the rear of the ambulance as he needed medical treatment and officers were trying to dodge Mr Hammill's mouth as he to bite those around him."
She said he was handcuffed and had to be "pinned down" to the bed in the ambulance to be restrained.
Miss Northey was described as "shaken, shocked and angered by what had happened at the scene".
Phil Moy, defending, said there was a "lot to be said on mitigation" in the matter.
The case was adjourned for sentencing next Tuesday.

Biting ? Now this is definitely Suarez's fault !

What sort of lowlife would attack a paramedic trying to do his job? Can only hope that this is a blown out of proportion story (like he accidentally fell on him of something) or completely made up. Otherwise, I'd send the cunt to jail.

It says he was unconscious so if that was the case and he was also shitfaced then he might not have known they were women. Still sounds like a scumbag though!

He might escape punishment if he says he's depressed. It worked for that corrupt MP who fiddled her expenses and who's case finished the other day.
