Slightly old news, but haven't seen this posted. I suppose someone living in the Netherlands might be interested.

Academy set for Holland trip

Youngsters from the Academy are about to embark on a pre-season tour of Holland where they face prestigious friendlies against Club Brugge and Schalke.

Alex Inglethorpe and Neil Critchley are taking the U17 and U19 squads on the tour which will be a fantastic experience for the youngsters.

The team travel to the Netherlands on Saturday where they'll spend the best part of two weeks in the town, Nijmegen.

As part of the trip, the boys will take part in many cultural activities, as well as footballing matters, including a visit to the Overloon war museum, and the graves of three soldiers that originated from Liverpool, laying wreaths in their honour.

The team will also be paying a special visit to meet the children at Radboud hospital and getting involved in sporting activities with the local kids of Nijmegen at the prestigious Johan Cruyff foundation.

Finally, the Academy squad will meet with the local side, Nijmegen FC, as they hold a training session and answer questions from players of the similar age to develop an understanding of each other's experiences as young players.

They will then face the sides Club Brugge and Schalke in pre-season Friendlies, including joining in a one-off training session at the academy of FC Twente, before returning home on August 1.

U18s boss Critchley told Liverpoolfc.com: "We are looking forward to the trip and it will be a fantastic experience for the young players.

"The games against Club Brugge and Schalke will be a good test for us."

Yan Dhanda scored in the U-18 pre-season game against Shrewsbury a few days ago. Don't know anything else about him. Here's a clip of him (no. 14) playing for England U-16s vs Denmark though. Nice pass to assist for a goal, earned a penalty and scored it, then scored another. Looks quite a smooth player.

The u19s will presumably feature all the usual suspects from last year's u18 team. Lots of good players there. The Australian Jake Brimmer is one who might be worth keeping an eye on in that group, as he's new to the club.

The younger team is much more of a mystery. The ones I know of as being rated are

Yan Dhanda - AM
Herbie Kane - CM
Trent Arnold - RB
Conor Masterson - CB

Dhanda looks very elegant from what I've seen, and strikes the ball with exceptional quality - Beckham style.

I've never really seen Kane but he looks tall for his age, he's compared to Gerrard, so a different kind of midfielder from most of our good prospects.

Arnold is an England u16 player, and has trained with the first team. Pretty much all I know there.

Masterson is the Irish dude we signed for a reported £1m a couple of years ago. I'm not sure I believe that fee. He's about 15 now I think. He played and scored for the u16 team in last year's Milk Cup, and looked massive for his age, but good on the ball.

That number 16 looks pretty decent as well.

Found the name - Marcus Edwards, plays for Spurs.

Think it was €1m; but not a lot of difference between the two anyway.
