How good a job have they done there re-building that aged squad!
I just noticed today how well they have done.
When we played them in 2007 their squad was ancient and full of players almost past it.
Look at their squad now, Robinho, Pato, Ibrahimovic, Cassano, Mexes, Aquilani, Nocerini, Boateng etc Amazing really.

1 GK Marco Amelia
2 DF Taye Taiwo
4 MF Mark van Bommel
5 DF Philippe Mexès
7 FW Alexandre Pato
8 MF Gennaro Gattuso
9 FW Filippo Inzaghi
10 MF Clarence Seedorf
11 FW Zlatan Ibrahimovi?
13 DF Alessandro Nesta
16 MF Mathieu Flamini
18 MF Alberto Aquilani
19 DF Gianluca Zambrotta
20 DF Ignazio Abate
22 MF Antonio Nocerino
23 MF Massimo Ambrosini (captain)
25 DF Daniele Bonera
27 MF Kevin-Prince Boateng
28 MF Urby Emanuelson
30 GK Flavio Roma
32 GK Christian Abbiati
33 DF Thiago Silva
37 MF Alexander Merkel
52 DF Mattia De Sciglio
57 MF Mattia Valoti
70 FW Robinho
76 DF Mario Yepes
99 FW Antonio Cassano

Still alot of oldies in there.

That Thiago Silva lad has been quality in the few games ive seen him play. Is he always good?

yeah i guess they did a decent job but i still don't think they're back to the level of that team , although that might be an unfair comparison as that was a top, top team . They're decent but i don't think they'll go too far in the champs league this season , well actually getting to a semi might not be beyond them .

In fairness that boeteng lad has looked very decent for them when i've seen them , that goal against barca is one of my fav goals in a long time (even if valdes bit dodgy at near post) .

And what a legend is that Seedorf lad, super player and seems a very decent chap . I was at a charity match he orgainsed once , he had about 10 seedorf brothers and cousins come on , endless supply of them .

He's been excellent in Italy. Top quality signing for Milan.

I can't believe Philippe Mexès is still going. Weren't we in for him back in the Ged era??

So it was said, though I was never sure he was actually GH's kind of player, despite being French.

RedZep mentioned Seedorf. That guy is incredible. As well as being a very good footballer, he was so fit when he joined Milan that they actually ordered him to sit out some training sessions in case his body fat ratio got too low, which would have made him "muscle-bound". He's also a very bright guy and speaks better English than most English players, as well as goodness knows how many other languages.

I just checked Seedorf's date of birth, 1976. Seems like he has been around absolutely ages but he is only 3 years older than me.

Van Bommel's still alive?
Can't wait to see him breaking crowns in true Van Bommel style for the Euros.....he's such a dickhead!

Remember when everyone were crying for us to sign Amelia? Looks like we made the right call when we didn't.

Abate is a player I really like. No-nonsense, hard tackling, clever and direct.

Milan are the best in the business when it comes to transfers.

20M for Ibra
2M for Cassano
5M for KP Boateng
Free transfer for Mexes
10M for Thiago Silva

And having invested so much into the MilanLab they've been able to keep the likes of Seedorf, Ambrosini, Nesta, Inzaghi & Gattuso fit for most of their careers.

Remember when everyone were crying for us to sign Amelia? Looks like we made the right call when we didn't.

The thing which cost Amelia is his lack of consistency.

He was OK at youth level for Italy, then performed well in spells for Livorno & Palermo.

Kinda like the Italian version of Paul Robinson who showed some fine form for Leeds & Spurs in SPELLS but not consistently.

I'd take only the following from that team....to add to our current squad...

Pato
Thiago Silva
Clarence Seedorf

and maybe....just maybe...Kevin-Prince Boateng

Errr am I missing something? That squad is full of either old has-beens or rejects.
A little bit, but they play well together so it works. Better a team full of journeymen/unloved players that play well than high priced bunk

he's been on the BBC as a pundit a few times, and i'm always so impressed by him. he's like some kind of modern day Lord Flashheart!

Really?

I do think Pato has immense talent, but he has a ridiculous injury history ... he usually played 2 games and then sits out the next 6.

Instead, I'd pick the likes of Ibrahimovic, Thiago Silva and Antonio Cassano from this side.
