Right around the same time as their 2nd goal went in, and I was about to throw the tele out the window because my day was ruined (again), I got a message from home...

My very good friend lost her 6 year old son to a brain tumor yesterday. It was only diagnosed on Monday. He didn't complain of headaches until last Saturday. They have to bury him on Monday.

Liverpool turning to shite really isn't the worst thing that could happen to us, y'know.

Turn off your computers, stop worrying about Liverpool and go and hug somebody you love. Life is short.

Christ, that's a horrible.

I'm sure the family and friends are all in a state of shock.

RIP

Sorry to hear that mate .. losing a child must be just the worst thing that could happen in life for any loving parent.

I have lost 4 friends in the space of the last 6 months (ages : 52, 35, 32 and 23) and now treat life very differently.

Liverpool's form of late has not been the worst thing to happen in our lives.

Agreed. A friend of mine died on Thursday a young man leaving 4 kids... he was buried yesterday. Tragic.

We all know there are far more important things than football in life, but a don't think a thread in which we post personal tragedies is what we really need to *lift* the mood

Of course it won't lift the mood but it will add perspective.

The thread title talks about perspective. Liverpool may be depressing us but there are more important things in life which we can lose sight of. The point is well made. I screamed at my television this morning - I have a big family and a whole day ahead. Football should not detract from my family-time.
Why don't you start a mood-lifting thread?

Thoughts and Prayers with the family.

So sorry to hear.

Seconded. Ditto for other posters who've lost people lately.

That is just terrible Whaddapie. A parent's worse nightmare.
Same thing happened to a neighbours friend during the summer.
RIP

This is terrible, DR. Losing a child is probably the worst thing that can happen.
My thoughts are with your friend. And right - it does put things into perspective.

And I just posted about what a hold LFC have over me.

Now I feel like a right cunt.

That's horrific news, sobering thoughts.

Stupid attempt at humor from my dark place.

Sorry.

Time to take a little break.

Glad you realised it.

Best not to repeat it, it wasnt funny & was in bad taste, thankfully fark knew this himself.

Right, two despairing circumstance does balance the mood somewhat.

Condolences for the grieving family.

I rather agree with Brendan on this one.
