Well, last night wasn't the best night I could have had. Great day, hid away in a computer lab at the hospital to watch the match, great workout, had an indoor footie match, very good. Unfortunately, I got stomped on bad at the match, thought I may have broken my right big toe. Definitely going to lose the nail. It's blue and swollen across and I'm having a hard time bearing weight on it. It's a lot better after staying home all day, doped up out of my face on painkillers. Still uncomfortable but it doesn't seem to be broken.
Much much worse is the girl I had been seeing on/off for most of the past year lost her mom last night to a prescription drug overdose. I don't know all the details yet but I know she is absolutely crushed. Her mom was just 40. I hadn't been on very good terms with this girl for the past couple months (long story, not the right time to tell) but she texted me out of the blue apologizing but could I do her a favour sort of thing. I eventually called her back and she told me of the overdose (her mom was in Florida on vacation and she was still here) but that things seemed stable now and she was sorry for calling. Shortly after my game, while I was in agony on a friend's couch, she called me again in tears to say her mom had died. I can't possibly imagine what she's going through right now. I'm in shock myself.
Just a reminder to everyone on here to take a moment to enjoy life and say a nice word to the people who are important to you because you never know when it might all be taken away.
