8 PL Clubs on the brink of Financial Meltdown?

Status

I suspect there is at least 8 teams in PL in worst financial state than Liverpool.

After all we have signed a new sponsorship, we have increased our income and we have the back up of having valuable assets to sell, hence our balance should be ok.

This while other teams have a huge wagebill stealing appr 85% of thweir total budget... Scary stuff.

Indeed. Were that not the case I can't see even Hicks being daft enough to hold out for the kind of money he's talking about.

You seriously underestimate his Greed.

Not in the least. He can (just about) make a case for what he's currently charging as a starting-point in negotiations precisely because of our underlying strength. If we were close to financial meltdown he couldn't, and both his greed and his other financial troubles would require him to lower the price to a level that wasn't utterly ridiculous in order not to scare potential buyers away.

what aside of five squad players. Is financially our underlying strength.

Ps if you know something we don't don't reveal it. Even to fortify your argument. I wouldn't put it past Jabba the Hutt

to trawl and waiste these boards looking for clues.

Our Norwegian colleague Insignificance has already listed much of it in his post above. To that I'd add the massive following we still have all over the globe (even though Moores and Parry failed to capitalise on it, something about which Hicks was absolutely right).

Two things, firstly i wouldnt be surprised given "material uncertainty" etc that we were in shit street financially, secondly it is a complete bollox for Hicks to expect 600 to 800 M for a club which is in said difficulties.

Whether we are in the worst 8 or so god knows... personally i wouldnt put it past them cunts.

Hicks doesn't expect that much. It's a negotiating ploy and one which most in his position would probably start out by using.

Time TIME is not on our, nor his side. He must drop this ridiculous price before its too late.

He will end up with nothing. thats the only Upside to this nightmare.

As JJ says everyone knows (apart from you seemingly Jason) it is all hot air, he has been backed into a corner by the banks and is a lot of bravado.
I expect he will have very little say on what the selling price is when push comes to shove, it's not an asking price, it's a figure he says the club is worth, and everyone knows it's worth £400-£500m.

regards

I appreciate its a bluff and any prospective buyer will know that.

The club as it stands is worth £350-mil (middle of recession players all pensive bla bla) .But it shows his lack of grip on reality. people with that sort of money have a very keen sense of self respect. They will kick the deal into touch rather than lose face. Jabba's attitude may well provoke a negative (Let the c--ts hit the dirt and pick the fan base up for nothing response.)
a very real prospect I would have thought. Its his attitude that we should worry about, not so much the price tag is anyone even bidding. No!

Is LFC one of them ? Is that a rhetorical question ?
[/quote]

I am afraid that LFC might be one of them! It is a concern.
