I am of course talking about Kasper Dolberg. Again.
So what do you think? Cup of noodle that'll soon turn lukewarm or is he the footballing equivalent of Noma?
Dolberg has started his career more or less like there's no tomorrow, few will dispute that as a fact whether you buy into the hype or not, and he has done so for one of the most decorated clubs when it comes to unearthing talents, AFC Ajax of The Netherlands.
However this is perhaps also where the 'doubts' could/should stem from, as the current quality of the Dutch league seem worse than seen for a long while. Not sure whether it's a benchmark to use, I kinda hope not, but this is the same league where one Janssen (Spurs) bagged around 27 goals in 34 matches last season and look at him now.
Dolberg's hat-trick in the weekend was the first one recorded for Ajax since Luis Suarez did the same back in his day. Marco van Basten's in 84' was the last one for Ajax that was bagged within lesser minutes than what Dolberg managed.
For me however, it's not his 8 goals in his first 12 matches at senior level that has convinced me (nor his passport though I know some on here might believe that which is only fair) but more so the way he has taken the goals, the diversity of the goals (in the box, outside the box, thunderous drives, spectacular headers and jaw-dropping solo-goals) as well as the way he has managed the other aspects of the game. Link-up play, timing, balance, vision, composure, first-touch etc.
For instance against NEC in the weekend he not only scored 3 goals he also won all of his aerial duels and won all of his 1-on-1's too. His first touch is otherworldly for a 19-year-old and in general terms he's playing well beyond his age.
Bergkamp on Dolberg (his mentor and current trainer at Ajax)
- We've had strikers that was great in the box but who wasn't great on the ball. Strikers who was good on the ball who couldn't score. Strikers who could score but didn't have any pace. Dolberg has got it all. He makes himself available, he's got pace and an eye for goal.
The hattrick from the weekend
The nerdy scout video
All of his touches and goal against Celta Vigo (stronger opponent)
..so, what's cooking here you think?
