5-minute cup noodle or raw Michelin quality?

I am of course talking about Kasper Dolberg. Again.

So what do you think? Cup of noodle that'll soon turn lukewarm or is he the footballing equivalent of Noma?

Dolberg has started his career more or less like there's no tomorrow, few will dispute that as a fact whether you buy into the hype or not, and he has done so for one of the most decorated clubs when it comes to unearthing talents, AFC Ajax of The Netherlands.

However this is perhaps also where the 'doubts' could/should stem from, as the current quality of the Dutch league seem worse than seen for a long while. Not sure whether it's a benchmark to use, I kinda hope not, but this is the same league where one Janssen (Spurs) bagged around 27 goals in 34 matches last season and look at him now.

Dolberg's hat-trick in the weekend was the first one recorded for Ajax since Luis Suarez did the same back in his day. Marco van Basten's in 84' was the last one for Ajax that was bagged within lesser minutes than what Dolberg managed.

For me however, it's not his 8 goals in his first 12 matches at senior level that has convinced me (nor his passport though I know some on here might believe that which is only fair) but more so the way he has taken the goals, the diversity of the goals (in the box, outside the box, thunderous drives, spectacular headers and jaw-dropping solo-goals) as well as the way he has managed the other aspects of the game. Link-up play, timing, balance, vision, composure, first-touch etc.

For instance against NEC in the weekend he not only scored 3 goals he also won all of his aerial duels and won all of his 1-on-1's too. His first touch is otherworldly for a 19-year-old and in general terms he's playing well beyond his age.

Bergkamp on Dolberg (his mentor and current trainer at Ajax)
- We've had strikers that was great in the box but who wasn't great on the ball. Strikers who was good on the ball who couldn't score. Strikers who could score but didn't have any pace. Dolberg has got it all. He makes himself available, he's got pace and an eye for goal.

The hattrick from the weekend

The nerdy scout video

All of his touches and goal against Celta Vigo (stronger opponent)

..so, what's cooking here you think?

I worry at his age, that if he moves to a "bigger" club now, it'll set his development back. Yes he's got it all now, but will that persist if he moves somewhere with greater pressure and less time to nurture?

Does he have the mentality for that? Look at martial, all the talent on the world, but moves to united and he's a bit part player who's coasting.

From a selfish point of view I reckon we try and take a punt sooner rather than later, but I do worry we'd stifle the player he could become

Maybe Martial would have developed differently so far this season under another manager.

I think that pretty much sums up my sentiments as well.

Everyone around him says he's a grounded, humble lad that will not lose his head, but of course all this attention from everywhere is affecting him to some degree. Only time will tell whether he can keep his feet firmly on the ground but he does seem like he's got the right values and that he gets the right guidance.

I know it's a rarity these days but what about a 'buy him now and let him continue his developments at Ajax'-kinda deal.

You are not going to out sneaky the Dutch in a business deal.

They have just sold Milik for 35 million euros. To Italians.
Has there been any talks in the Dutch medias about what Ajax will be looking for? I know that dodgy rumor from Mirror mentioned £20M but I have no idea whether that was just an 'educated' guess..

I haven't seen anything but I haven't been looking. There will be loads today repeating that Mirror amount but that's probably just made up.

Great as he's looked it's very difficult to put a price on someone with so few games.

The Italians had 90 million Euros in their pocket from the Higuain sale though. Not sure if even Italians can get out of that one..

If they don't accept say..... £500m? maybe should we throw in Lucas as a makeweight.

Edit: €20 m bid and he can stay there until the end of next season. Klopp can have plenty of time to talk to his coaches and the move will be be awesomes's's's's's's'!!!!!

Man City scout confirm they will be present at the Amsterdam Arena tonight for a further look at Dolberg. Same scout reveals Pep like him and that they are now considering their options as to when to react further.

Isn't that rather unusual to be this obvious?

Anyways he is Anfield bound so why do they even bother..
